SDI::Util in .tar.gz missing

I've been running the legacy "squeezeboxserver" version 7.5.3 happily for some time now and decided to take a look at the latest and greatest. I noticed the name has changed to Logitech Media Server, but the packaging seems about the same.

After extracting the tarball and attempting to run slimservice.pl (the "installation.txt" file does not seem to cover anything aside from setting permissions once extracted) I got an error indicating that I need to create "slimservice.conf" with a path to mysqueezebox.com. This makes little sense to me and is entirely undocumented, so after looking inside slimservice.pl (why keep this legacy name?) I create slimservice.conf with SN_PATH set to the extracted directory.

Now the perl module nightmare begins as always. Right off the bat it is complaining about SDI::Util::SNConfig, but I can't find this in CPAN or anywhere else online. Where does this come from? The interpreter was set to /opt/sdi/bin/perl so I'm assuming there may be a pre-packaged perl distribution that can be put in place, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Has this project come to cater only to windows and binary distro users? I roll my own Linux which has never been a problem for me once I was able to satisfy all of the perl module dependencies, but this is the worst documented release to date particularly in that there is no documentation and nothing works OOTB.

Some guidance would be appreciated, perhaps I missed some installation instructions for the generic .tar.gz release.

Regards,

-Ryan
