STILL can't import iTunes Playlists - Help!

I cannot believe that this is at least a 3 yr old problem and no one has identified a fix or put together an app to address it. Perhaps my research just hasn't taken me to the right place. I'm hoping someone out there knows the answer.

I have owned a Squeezebox Classic for about 10 yrs now. I also run a Squeezebox Radio in my bathroom. I recently re-loaded the server and my (iTunes) music files to our NAS (Synology D213J). While I have no problem finding or playing individual tracks throughout my entire collection by searching for artists, albums, or titles, I cannot access my Playlists. I have attempted to access them with iTunes engaged on the LMS and without the app engaged. I have attempted exporting each of my playlists into the LMS, both with and without iTunes engaged on the server. I have exported the playlists to a new folder and re-directed the server to that location. I can get the playlist folder names to appear in the LMS, but when I click on them, the server responds that they are empty.

I've written to and called Logitech, Synology, and Apple. Everyone points to the other guy. My search of these forums indicates that this problem goes back several years and that the trail went dead in 2012.

BTW, I am not an iTunes fan and would not use it except for the fact that it makes syncing with my iPod reasonably easy.

At this point, I am up for anything including re-considering my use of iTunes.

Any ideas out there? I'll be eternally grateful for a solution.
