Blame iPeng's popularity... many use iPeng to stream from their home
while on the road, at the office etc.

And from the feedback I've had so far many still thought opening ports
was _required_. Often one would have said "you need to open port 9000 on
your server's firewall to make it accessible for the players" and users
went and opened port 9000 on their routers.

uPnP/DLNA rendering issue

Hi,

The media renderer of Andy Grundman's uPnP/DLNA plugin is not working properly for me: I am unable to send tracks to my Squeezebox Touch or to a SqueezePlay instance.

The devices are both listed as DLNA renderers, the track info is shown but nothing is playing. Instead I get an HTTP 403 Forbidden (or sometimes an HTTP 401 Not Authorized) error on the Squeezebox Touch and on SqueezePlay. I have tried different devices: Android Phone with the default music app, Android AirSpot (Spotifiy-to-DLNA-bridge app), Windows Media Player ... no success. Android and AirSpot rendering to Windows Media Player is working fine. The DLNA server functionality of the plugin is working fine, and in fact, sending tracks from the LMS DLNA server to Squeezebox Touch or SqueezePlay is actually working. Summed up, LMS DLNA rendering from any other sources than the LMS DLNA server is not working.

I am 99% positive it is not a firewall issue, nor a networking thing, I tried everything. All the devices reside on the same subnet and I also tried when disabling device firewalls. I even set up a brand new Ubuntu LTS server with the latest nightly LMS, but to no avail: exactly the same problematic behaviour. My SqueezeBox touch has the latest firmware. I analyzed the debug level log files but couldn't find anything conclusive.

I am quite lost here and would appreciate any hint :-)

Force 128 kBit/s mp3 for one player only?

One of my players, an old Squeezebox, is located in another location, coupled via VPN. Unfortunately the bandwidth doesn't allow FLAC or PCM.

Can I configure LMS to transcode everything that goes to this player as mp3 128 kBit/s?

How is search button supposed to work

If I use the search option in Squeeze Controller I get results from radio station but not from local music.
Is I explicit choose to search within spotty it works. If I choose local files I get nothing.
Am I missing something?

Problems playing 2 synced SBTs at the same time - new problem just recently.

I have two SBT units both synced and using my Raspberry piCoreplayer with frequently updated LMS 7.9.1. Playing an MP3 album from my media library on the server works correctly until I turn on the second player, then the music pauses every 30 seconds or so before continuing. After a while they skip to the last track in the playlist, and plays that. Then DSTM kicks in and another 25 tracks are added but the players pause and then skip to the last of the newly added files. I have only noticed this since about Thursday. Can not think of anything that I have changed at that time. Has been happening just now but there are no new entries in LMS server log.

Can't change player i EDGE webgui

Hi!

Since latest windows update, I can not change player when using EDGE browser..... It does not do anything, when you try to activate pull down menu...
Any one else seeing this ???

restarting LMS via Terminal on OSX El Capitan

Hey just a quick question:

There's something weird about the install of 7.9.1 on my headless OSX server, the button to stop the server in the system preference panel is always greyed out and the status says server starting. It functions but when I install updates I'd like to be able to restart it without restarting the entire computer, on arch I could do this with

systemctl |grep log
to find the logitech service and then stop it just like any daemon, but on OSX when I do

launchctl list |grep log
I can't find LMS's process to start / stop it.

How does it run on OSX exactly?

LMS 7.9.x seems having problems with IPV6

Hi,
Running logitechmediaserver_7.9.1~1503129892 on Pi 2 with OS 2017-07-05-raspbian-jessie-lite, I've noticed the squeezebox server having issues with IPV6 nameserver entry in /etc/resolv.conf.

Couldn't resolve IP address for: opml.radiotime.com.

I could tell my the DHCP of my router to stop sending IPV6 based ip addresses. But that's merely a work around.

Any better idea?

Yes, but not for your OS/Perl version/platform combination...

Sync Group - force leader ?

Is there a way to force a particular player in a sync group to always be the leader of the group?

I ask because it seems that a server reboot causes individual players to reload their last individual playlists and it depends which one you hit play on as to what the group then plays as opposed to the last "synced" playlist which seems to exist in Prefs only in the leader of the group.

Am I explaining myself properly .......?

LMS plays track that is not in playlist. For next tracks it shows wrong track playing

My LMS does regularly a weired thing:
First, somewhere within the playlinst, it plays a song that is not actually in the plalist (see picture 1)
For the rest of the playlist, it shows on the playlist the wrong song as if it was playing. And when I select a song from the plalist, it plays the previous song (See pic 2)
Is this a known issue...? And how can I get rid of it? It can be annoying...

iTunes Media Folder on External Hard Drive on iMac Inaccessible as Source in LMS

Hi Everyone:

I have an iMac running Sierra with the latest nightly build of LMS 7.9. I have a USB 3 external hard drive connected to the iMac that I have a copy of my "iTunes Media" stored folder on. I have, I believe, properly configured all the settings in LMS v. 7.9 but I find that when I go into the page tabbed "Advanced" and then click on the "Advanced Settings" box I have difficulty in the next window with the the "Basic Settings" setup. When I browse to select the location of the "Media Folder" and the "Playlists Folder" my external hard drive is listed under "Volumes" in the hierarchical list. I double click on "Volumes" in the list and the external hard drive appears in the drop down below Volumes, but when I then double click on the external drive the contents (iTunes Media folder) is not accessible. Further, up in the line for the location of the Media Folder, next to the Browse button, it will only display "/Volumes/", Not the name of the external drive. This all holds true for the "Playlists Folder" browsing and external drive selection too; it will only list "/Volumes/" as the location of the folder. So, when I use those those settings it allows I'm not able to scan and stream any music. Oh, and in my iTunes app on the iMac I have in Preferences correctly listed the external drive location of the iTunes Media folder.

Anyone have suggestions for what I'm doing wrong and/or should do differently? The whole purpose of this exercise was to eliminate the load on the iMac's internal hard drive during my hours of streaming music.

Houston we have a problem...with LMS!

My power went out during Hurricane Harvey. Got back online and now LMS is FUBAR!. Two SBT, piCore w/mount to Vortexbox for flac files. Can't find the files and my apps disappeared. Strange thing is when I access it via iPeng, I can stream Tidal, Pandora but not Spotify/Spotty and when I do stream those services it shows up under Random Music on LMS. WTH is going on??

After running LMS 7.9.0 on Ubuntu Trusty for several weeks it stopped working today. squeezeboxserver is using high CPU and memory. I see the following in server.log:

Please change to "Only read mixable status". The full import probably
hasn't been used widely in a very long time, as it doesn't really make
sense any more. Nobody is using MIP as the "source of truth" nowadays.

Hello:
I just updated my LMS to 7.9.1 r1504317335. After upgrading, (it took ages) it too another age to launch, then freezes up if any of the top tabs are selected. I'm trying to uninstall, but my PC has been sitting for about 15 min with the uninstall window open but nothing happening.
Even the 'cancel' button is grayed out. Anyone else having this trouble?

tagging issue

Posting here in the hope that this is a peculiarity of LMS, and maybe there's an easy fix.

Long story short: I bought a couple of the ultra cheap downloads from Amazon, some early Alfred Brendel on the Vanguard label and the Colorado Quartet's complete Beethoven string quartets.

The mp3 files are in perfect order when I look at them on my laptop, using, say, jRiver Media Center. Likewise, when I locate them in LMS (which is running on an old Mac Mini I repurposed) they again show up in the correct order in the left pane of LMS. But when I tell it to play all tracks, they jumble.

Now I don't understand the finer points of file tagging, and I know classical music is notorious for being hard to corral, but when I look at the tracks in the left pane of LMS, they appear to be numbered correctly.

For the moment, I'm just manually adding tracks and that works fine, but when you have an album of 50 or 60 cuts, it's a PITA.

Thoughts?
