Random play from tracks in a specific playlist?
I've never made much use of playlists, I mostly use favorites and play whole albums, or just song mixes.
However, I've been on a massive vinyl to mp3 conversion, I have digitized more than 200 albums already and have 10x that to do. I may finish before I die, I may not :)
What I'd like to do is create fixed playlists of tracks. Some of the playlists when selected would play sequentially, others randomly/shuffle. I know I can set a player to play randomly, but I'd rather embed this into the playlist. is this possible?
I guess not looking at the de-facto m3u spec, but wondered if there were any LMS specific extensions?

strange DNS problem using LMS on Windows 10
Hey there !
From one day another, I am facing a weird problem in Logitech Media Server on Win 10:
the server won't find any internet addresses, so when entering my login for mysqueezebox.com in the LMS control panel I get "An unexpected error occurred while validating your mysqueezebox.com account. Please make sure network connectivity is working fine.".
When using the browser, I can login at mysqueezebox.com without any problem.
Also, in the LMS control panel on tab 'Diagnostics' everything looks fine (mysqueezebox.com: 54.170.81.39/OK/OK/OK).
Similar problem in the web control: when I open the tab "plugins", it takes about ten seconds before I get the plugins page starting with this message: "Bad repository http://repos.squeezecommunity.org/extensions.xml - Couldn't resolve IP address for: repos.squeezecommunity.org".
When I just enter that address into the browser, it will show that xml-file instantly.
So I already tried this (always with a proper restart routine):
- change Windows DNS-settings from my router's IP to 8.8.8.8 (Google),
- change Windows DNS-settings directly to those from my provider,
- completely deactivate firewall,
- de-installing the server including all configs, downgrading from latest 7.9.1 to 7.7.5, (manually making sure no file is left before restarting, then re-install),
- restart the router.
I found some articles describing a similar problem on linux-machines, where people would create (or change) a file /etc/resolv.conf manually, and that did the trick.
But on Windows this doesn't seem to work (I was hopeless, I even tried THAT...).

How to uninstall from Win 7?
From the early days of trying the Squeezeboxes, I have an LMS 7.7.2 running on my Win 7 Laptop. Since I use my NAS as LMS now, I don't need it on Windows anymore. But I can't seem to find where or how I can uninstall it. The LMS is running, and I see SQUEEZ~3.exe, squeezeboxcp.exe and SqueezeTray.exe in the Windows Task Manager. But I don't find any of these in Programs, where I could uninstall. I also looked up the computer administration (Autostart etc., I'm not quite sure about the proper terms here because I have a German Windows) but didn't find anything either.
How can I uninstall the LMS and all that belongs to it from Windows 7?

A year or so ago I started this plugin in some spare hours. Eventually I
never finished it as I decided the kids should learn to limit the use of
the Radio themselves. Oh, and because it turned out to be more

Server scan terminates unexpectedly after long loop.
I posted this in the Squeezebox Touch forum. However, it appears that this is the proper forum for it. I should also add to the post that I know very little about computers and related matters. So if you reply please understand that I do not speak Geek very well at all. This problem is driving my nuts so please help if you can.
I have encountered the following problem under the following circumstances:

Player: Squeezebox Touch run wirelessly via Netgear router
Hard drives are housed in OWC Mercury Elite Pro Qx2
Logitech Media Server version 7.9.1
The server was running just fine until I added a fourth drive. After doing so I cannot get it to complete a scan. It begins the scan and all appears to be working but then, after it seemingly has completed the scan of all 4 drives it begins again to scan drive 1. This then continues for a very long time, followed by a message saying that the scan terminated unexpectedly. This has been going on for 3 days. Is there another version that is better suited to my setup? Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix this problem? I will appreciate any help you are able to provide.

Audio::Scan: 0.93 in LMSUpdate 7.9.1 for Synology DS 216play

I have installed the latest version of the LMSUpdate Synology (my NAS is DS 216play) package, but Audio::Scan is still on an older version 0.93.
For DSD playback or transcoding I need it to be 0.94 or higher - which it should be, afaik, within this newest LMS version.

Dissapearing apps from My Apps
Hi All
I've got a weird one with My Apps. Basically, different players see different apps as being available in My Apps. If I look at mysb, I have a few apps selected (tidal, tunein, AbsoluteRadio), and then a few local ones (e.g. BBC iPlayer). Most of my players show all apps, but a couple only show a couple in their MyApps when I look at their Menu (on an old SB3) or using Soundicity with a piCorePlayer. I have other pCPs that work fine, and other players (transporter, duet) that work fine. If I use on of the missing apps (e.g. Tidal) through the web interface with one of the affected players, it plays fine. If I add a new app, it shows up right away with the unaffected players, but doesn't show up at all with the affected ones.
Using latest 7.9.0.
Any ideas?

LMS skipping the music when syncing multiple end points and playing hi-res music
Hello. I have the latest LMS running on my QNAP 219P+ All my end points (three Touches) are wired via Ethernet. So my entire setup is wired. Mostly I just use one of the touches which is my Main. But recently I have been wanting to sync all of them together to play in my three zones. When synced, I play music that is .mp3 or radio internet, the sync runs fine. It's only when I play files that are 96/24 or higher in quality, does the music have problems. It will only play for a few seconds, then cuts out, then play for another few seconds, then cuts out and never get's through the song. If I do not sync the players, each touch can play the 92/24 and higher music just fine. This leads me to think that the processor on the QNAP just can't handle the syncing on 92/24 music and higher. I am hoping you guys might have some tweaking suggestions to get this to work. Is there a log that I can turn on to see exactly what is happening when playing each song?

SSL error with 7.9.1 on 219+ (1/2 podcasts don't work now)

CLOSE_WAIT after restart
Perhaps this is more a Linux question than a LMS question ... anyway ;-)
I'm running LMS on a Raspberry Pi with Debian Wheezy, LMS latest version.
When I restart my LMS ('service logitechmediaserver restart'), I find usually a remarkable number of TCP connections marked as "CLOSE_WAIT", most of them to the players.
Is there a more gracefully way to restart the server, so it would close the sockets before quitting?

All Tidal songs do not show up on the albums/playlist...

How to upgrade on Linux
Hello,
stupid question but i didn't find the answer since the repository is not anymore available and before doing a mistake, i wanted to know how to upgrade my installation from 7.8 to 7.9.1, i've download the zip logitechmediaserver_7.9.1-1505480690_all.deb and push it to my linux server but now, what should i do?
By the way, i'm doing this because my SBTouch is not anymore able to install EDO plugin, it says everytime (reinstall) but nothing happens, the kernel is not updating and the USB option not available.
i was thinking that updating the server would also provide a new version of the player and then resolve my problem.

Digitally Imported not playing
When I try to access streams through my apps I don't get any noise and the screen shows 0,PLS Radio rather than the bitrate of the stream. If I select a saved favorite the stream is working, these were saved before whatever happen. Any one know what's going on?

I am using LMS 7.9.1. from Sep 15 2017 on a Windows 10 PC.
I have a Squeezebox Classic and a Squeezebox Radio connected to the same mysqueezebox account.
Immediately after installation of LMS both players are found and everything works OK.
When I stop the server and start it again, the LMS no longer finds the players, nor can the players connect to LMS.
Squeezebox Radio network diagnosis shows that it can ping the LMS but not connect on ports 3483 nor 9000
Same happens when I reboot my PC.
Neither rebooting nor restarting helps.
The only way to fix this is re-installing the LMS from the downloaded install exe. Afterwards both players are found immediately and all is OK - until I reboot the PC or stop and restart the LMS.
I assume something (starting a demon; port-forwarding; what so ever) is done during install that is missing after restart (or done at the wrong time).
Does anyone have similar experiences or even a solution for this? It is quite annoying to re-install the LMS every time I reboot the PC or change the LMS config.

My fix for IO::Socket::SSL error with LMS installed on QNAP ARM NAS (219P+)
So you have to install SSL and all its dependencies:
1. Make sure you have Optware QPKG installed on your NAS. Turns out that Optware has been replaced by Entware but I've seen Entware blow up SSOTS so you can download it here:
http://download.qnap.com/QPKG/Optware_0.99.163.zip I would keep in on your NAS in a place you know it will be and won't delete in case you need to do it again.
2. In you NAS workstation, go to My Apps and install the qpkg. (there is an icon on the top right that looks like a grid with a plus sign - click there and it will ask you to browse the path of the qpkg
3. Open Putty. (just enter the ip address of your NAS) and once Putty is will ask you to enter the NAS workstation userid and password
4. Enter the following commands
cd /
ipkg install openssl openssl-dev
* If you get an error here saying that ipkg cannot be found, then for some reason your environment table isn't updated correctly. this happened to me. If you have the same error then do the following:*
echo $PATH (displays the current environment path)
find -name 'ipkg" (displays the path of the command ipkg)
PATH=(here, make sure you enter in all the directories that where shown when you displayed the current path. each directory is separated by a ":") for me this looked something like "PATH=/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/Optware/bin:/opt/bin:/opt/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin"

Use HDA if you have a single volume drive, and MD0 if you're using Raid. if you're not sure, you can browse your directory structure within putty via the command "ls" or just use WinSCP. For me WinSCP was a bit easier as it's a GUI interface that's easy to navigate the directory structure.*

* that's it. hopefully all the above installed correctly. if it didn't, just respond back with the error and everyone here will try and help you. once you stop and restart LMS, you shouldn't get the SSL error anymore.

So, it looks like you have to have an internet connection to Configure PiCorePlayer......
But do you need an internet connection to run PiCoreplayer.... just streaming your Music Library?

Squeezebox Classic Not Powering Up
My Squeezebox Class does not power up. However, when I look behind the device, I see:
1. An internal "red" light illuminating in the S/PDIF. This means power gets to the device.
2. When I take the Squeezebox to my bedroom hifi, the WIFI extender is picked up by the Squeezebox and the LOGITECH sign appears and works like normal.
Unfortunately, this is not I how I want the device to work. I want it to pick any of the WIFI connections in my wife, in particular for my main living room hifi.
Could someone help. I have uninstalled and installed the LMS a million times it does not work for my main stereo (nothing appears on the device screen).
