Search for a podcast

Is there some way to search for a specific podcast in the web UI? The search box seems to only search things in my library. There must be a better way to find a podcast than by guessing what category it might be in and scrolling through all the possibilities.

How to Mount Synology NAS on Picoreplayer LMS

Hello.
I use Picoreplayer V3.5.0. I have activated LMS
Despite many attempts, I can't get the NAS up.
(while I had no problem doing it with Volumio for example).
I don't know if the problem is on PicorePlayer or on my Nas Synology.
Can anyone help me please ?

squeeze ctrl, bayeaux and the connection type "streaming"?

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but I'm trying to understand the protocol between remote controls and LMS.

I'm watching the connection from "squeeze ctrl" (android control) to LMS. It specifies its "supportedConnectionTypes" as "streaming". LMS responds by asserting its supportedConnectionTypes as ["long-polling","streaming"].

What confuses me a little is that I don't see "streaming" anywhere in the cometd protocol spec. (Only values I see specified are "long-polling", "callback-polling", and something I don't understand/care about iframe/flash.)

I found some code chunks in Cometd.pm that suggest the "streaming" has something to do with chunking (whatever that means).

So, my questions:

- is "streaming" an extension local to this community?

- does this string mean I can't, for example, replace LMS with cometd (java reference implementation of bayeaux protocol)?

- what is streaming vs long-polling supposed to suggest?

Thanks.

Yep, saw that, too. I actually see delays in regular postings, taking
hours. Sometimes coming in out of order. That's why I decided to restart
and update a bunch of services on the mailman server last week. I'm not
sure whether this helped to "free" those lagged mails, or didn't help at
all...

LMS Stops Playing with Short Tracks

$

My first post:

I have a folder with files encoded from a CD that has numerous short tracks, such as 6 to 12 seconds. I am running LMS on a Raspberry Pi using Orange Squeeze to control it. When one of these tracks is next, the player stops.

I only have one other similar folder, but its shortest tracks are over 20 seconds. It has no problems.

Is this a defect? Is there anything I can do to prevent the problem?

I have been unable to find references to this problem through searching.

My application is that I have "background music" playing 24/7 on the Raspberry Pi, throughout the house, but I can sit down to listen carefully whenever I want. I use an ancient HP Touchpad to run the control interface (Orange Squeeze). That way, I can pick up the wireless-charging, Wi-Fi communicating tablet and scroll through album art to pick out new music, and put it back in its cradle when done. And it is always showing album art.

SB Radio only playing 1st track in playlist...

Hey folks...

I've installed LMS a bunch of times over the years, and recently installed a copy on my new HTPC (running Windows 10).

I recreated my favorites and playlists for this installation.

However, last night when I played a playlist, it would no longer play the rest of the playlist. It played the first song in it, then stopped.

I seem to recall this installation worked properly, but last night it didn't.

I'll need to debug this some more, but can any of you recall a setting or condition that would cause this to happen? I see nothing suspicious in the logs.

Latest versions?

I know it must be somewhere on the forum, but I can't find it -- where are the latest stable versions to be found?

I did a general web search and found the "nightly" page, with a recent iteration of 7.9.2, but am not sure if this is considered "stable" or if there is another location.

The download location should be in a message created as a sticky, I think.

View contents of a single folder in album-like format

I'm guessing this might only be possible with the some of the custom browsing additions, but I've yet to figure out how to do it - is there a way to limit a view to a specific folder without having to rely on genre tags or such? I have music broken down into categories by folder and would love to be able to graphically see just certain types in a view akin to the main Album view, but can't divine how to make it work. Is this possible?

Browse Music Folder oddity

I never use this feature but I noticed that the list of folders/artists has an entry

Pavel Sporcl;Petr Jirikovsky

There is no folder with this name and if I click on the entry it is empty. Under Pavel Sporcl there is an album where both artists are named as "Album Artists" but I cannot understand why this would cause the false entry. I thought Browse Music Folder ignored tags.

Upgraded to 7.9.2,now can't connect

Hi there,

I just upgraded my LMS installation on my music server to 7.9.2. All seemed well, LMS is running on the server and I can access the music files from the web control on the server.

As well, the Win 7 computer on which LMS is installed is visible to the network, and I can access it remotely.

However, no control devices (SqueezeCtrl on my Android devices, SqueezePlay on my laptop) can connect to LMS, or even identify a music server.

There were some other issues that led to the upgrade -- specifically the server had a drive space issue, a function of the creation of a zillion temp files, apparently due to a corrupted log file. Fixed, and 150 gb recovered. But then Windows initiated an update, which apparently had been stalled because of the lack of drive space. Took hours, apparently because I'd deleted the most recent log files, and the install stalled at 100% complete for a long time.

So then, because I'd had some concern initially about virusy things, I installed Avast anti-virus on the device (it's never used for email or for browsing, so little concern, but it IS on 24/7 with an internet connection). And then there was a notification of a new version of LMS, which proved to be 7.9.1. I did a manual install of 7.9.2 instead, why not?

I suppose the first thing I should do is deactivate Avast, to see if that solves things, but my hunch is it's something else - never had a problem with other anti-virus software, although it's been some years since I last had LMS on a computer with such a utility.

Let me know what I should try, and I'll update about the antivirus software.

Sorting by year, album seems not to work

Hi

I might understand this wrong but I checked the years with Tag&Rename and don't see my albums in the correct order . I have an almost complete set of Porcupine Tree ( as one has ) but if I sort by year and album I see a wrong order. Lightbublb sun in Tag&Rename has as year 2000 but in LMG I see year 2007! So wrong.

What is LMS using as year?

LMS, Run as administrator

Using Windows 10 and LMS 7.7.6 as of this morning LMS failed to start automatically. The control panel says (in red) I should run as admin.
I have tried right clicking the LMS icon in the start menu and clicking "run as administrator" and I have tried the same thing with the squeezetray icon in Program files. neither of these have worked and when I try to start LMS manually it turns off within seconds.
What else can I try?

LMS Scan Missed a Song

What you don't see in the forum, I see on the mailing list: That dash
after the "C" must be special:

> show up browsing by folder. The file name created by DBPoweramp is "16
> Hunt You Down-Naked-C‐Link.mp3". I renamed the song to "16 Hunt
> You Down - Naked C Link.mp3" and LMS picked it up just fine. There

It's not the number of dashes, but some special character. Are you
storing the file on the same system as where LMS is running? What file
system type?

Foobar as "controller" for LMS: is possible?

$

Hi!
For listening my music I've got LMS 7.9.2 on a home server (with Ubuntu), Squeezelite-R2 on a Gentoo minipc.
To access and play some music I use the browser and the classic LMS web-interface on a Windows 10 pc.
I don't like the classic LMS interface: on my winpc I like much more Foobar as player.
So my (stupid?) question is: it's possible to use Foobar as "controller" to browse and starts music from LMS to squeezelite?
I don't think so, but asking is free...

That's exactly why you see these in the log: some client (web UI,
smartphone app etc.) is requesting data for players which are not connected.

I would try to figure out where those requests come from. Eg. by
enabling exactly that logging category.

On MacOS 10.14 the LMS control panels remains at "The server is starting". The Start Server button also remains grey.
LMS runs normally. If I need to stop it, I just kill the perl process.
The server log only displays: main::init (387) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.9.2,

Do you know what LMS version was installed? Would you be able to press
the "Nightly Update" button?

You might need to update to a nighly build manually. Just follow the
instructions on https://www.picoreplayer.org/how_to_upgrade_lms.shtml.
That should get it working.

LogitechMediaServer stuttering on Windows 10?

$

Hi,
after my loved SheevaPlug died last week, I had to buy a new box as LogitechMediaServer and Fileserver and bought a NUC with windows 10 pro.
It has an internal SSD and an external HDD connected via USB 3.0 (for the music files).
I installed a recent LogitechMediaServer (beta).
Everything is fine, but sometimes the LogitechMediaServer is stuttering for some seconds up to a minute, especially when being in the Mediaserver settings (via webinterface).
During this time, the fileserver (network share) seems to run without problems.

What can be the reason?
Anybody else running LogitechMediaServer under Windows 10? Without problems?

Thanks,
Micha
