I've lost volume control after updating to LMS 7.8

I just updated from 7.6.1 to the current version of LMS 7.8 because album art had ceased to show up on the main page in iPeng 7. The update fixed the art problem, but now I have no control over volume. Volume is stuck at a reasonable listening level, but volume sliders don't work at all now - not on LMS on my laptop, in iPeng, or in Logitech's own Squeezebox controller. Can anyone offer advice?

I'm running LMS 7.8.0 - 1395310205.

Nasty noise beginning and end of certain 320K MP3 tracks

I have certain tracks that emit a short (~0.1s) loud burst of speaker blowing noise at the beginning and end of the file. I know the noise isn't an artifact embedded in the actual MP3 file as I can play them on other MP3 players without the noise and also I have confirmed this with a waveform viewer, thus it is being generated by LMS. I didn't rip the music so can't say what software was used. I have seen this issue mentioned sporadically over the years and after searching these posts tried everything that I have come across:
Deleting embedded artwork.
Deleting all tags except the basic artist, track and genre information.
Deleting all tags except ID3v2 tags.
Upgrading to LMS 7.8.0 didn't help.

Some clues: if I play the offending tracks one after each other I don't get the noise. I need to play a "normal" track in between two offending ones to get the noise. If I play an offending track then pause it, when I play a normal track I get the noise at the start of the track.

I am running LMS on an old laptop running Windows Vista w 2GB memory. I doubt that it is anything to do with this machine as the system is working perfectly in other respects. The duet squeezebox receiver has firmware rev 77 and is connected by the digital interface to the amp and is connected via wireless to the server.

All suggestions gratefully received (short of deleting the offending files).

Squeezebox Radio only updated to 7.7.3 after upgrading LMS to 7.8.0

Hi,

I just upgraded my QNAP LMS from 7.7.2 to 7.8 via SSOTS. The update worked like a charm. Afterwards I actualized the firmware of my Squeezebox Touch and my Squeezebox Radio. The touch updated to 7.8.0 without any hassle - the Radio however only upgraded to 7.7.3 (was 7.7.2 before). Did I miss on anything?

Here's the information I got from the LMS Webfrontend:

Schema changes from 7.7.2 to 7.7.3 ?

Did LMS 7.7.3 make any schema changes?

I have one Muso user reporting that Muso is not pulling in new albums since he upgraded LMS to 7.7.3, so wondered if there were any changes which may have affected the query Muso uses (which is basically a join between tracks and tracks_persistent, and track_statistics if trackstat is used).

Would an upgrade from 7.7.2 to 7.7.3 have left old .db files behind and created new ones elsewhere? Problem environment is Synology (OS upgrade to DSM 5.0) Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.3 - 1375965195

LMS issues with playback

Hi.

I am using an addon with XBMC to get playback in all rooms in my house.

When i ssh on to the box i get sound using this:
Lounge:~/.xbmc/addons/script.xsqueeze/resources/bin/linux # ./squeezelite-i64 -m 00:01:02:06:03:09 -o hdmi:CARD=HDMI,DEV=0 -s 192.168.1.200


But when i run it through the Addon, is crashes saying couldnt connect to player...

i have now changed the ports incase there was a conflict but can see errors in the log.

Any ideas?

logitech media server 7.7.3 crashing issue

I updated to version 7.7.3 on my Windows 7 but the server tends to crash and stops the service every few hours or days. but devices show time but music not work.

i will reinstall windows but same problem face.


kindly help its urgent.

LMS 7.8 - Odd behavior when using "Music Folder"

While this is a not a major issue I have been experiencing some very odd and repeatable behavior when trying to use the "Music Folder" method to listen to a recording newly added to the music library without running a full "Look for new and changed media files" rescan .

A few details of my setup:

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.8.0 - 1392818344 @ Thu Feb 20 03:04:30 CUT 2014
Hostname: Jazzfan-PC
Server IP Address: 192.168.1.3
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Windows 7 - EN - cp1252
Platform Architecture: 8664
Perl Version: 5.14.1 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)
Total Players Recognized: 7

With the music library spread across three external USB hard drives.

Description of problem:

When I try to use the "Music Folder" feature LMS will start to rescan the hard drive containing the new music files, e.g. if the new files are located on a subdirectory of drive H, LMS will begin a rescan of drive H, and be unable to access the hard drive with the new files, however the rescan does not finish and LMS just crashes, i.e. trying to abort the scan via the Setting screen does not work. I have to end the LMS process using Windows Task Manager. I then restart LMS and LMS will then continue to try to finish the rescan at which point I have to do a full hard reboot of the computer since the abort scan feature still does not work. Once the computer reboots LMS is running again I can then abort the scan and restart LMS.

What I find when the scan is finally aborted and LMS is restarted is that recent failed rescan is considered to be part of the previously finished automatic daily rescan, which of course makes no sense but this is what appears to be happening. And now I can use the "music folder" feature without an further incidents until after the next daily rescan when the whole process described above just reoccurs.

As I stated earlier this is not a major problem because I can just avoid using the "music folder" feature since I have plenty of other music to listen to.

Question: exactly what do I have to do to file a bug report?

RSS Newsticker and Random Mix Plugins

Hi

I've given up with my underpowered linkstation and installed LMS 7.8.1 on my Windows 8 pc.

However, 2 plugins that I really liked on my linkstation were the RSS Newsticker and Random Mix. Neither of these plugins have loaded on the windows version. Is this a known problem, or am I doing something wrong?

Both state "Plugin Failed to load"

Any help appreciated.

Trouble adding additional R-Pi players

Hi all,

I am running LMS 7.7.3 on a Synology DistStation DS212, connecting through a virgin media superhub. I have a squeezebox radio that works 100%. I also have a raspberry pi running wireless with squeezeplug installed, which also works flawlessly. I am trying to connect another pi over wifi, I have tried with squeezeplug and picoreplayer and the same issues happens:
Pi 1 playing music, plug in Pi 2 it takes over playing music and Pi 1 stops. Unplug Pi 2, Pi 1 takes over playing again and Pi 2 stops. At no point do both Pi's get recognised by LMS. It is almost like a conflict with the name/ip/MAC however all of these are different for both platers.

Am I missing something obvious?

codecs on LMS 7.7.3 on debian wheezy 64

I am running LMS on a 64 bit wheezy box and using picoreplayer on 4 RPIs for my house audio zones.

I am trying to get the NPR plugin to work, but the streams will not play. I don't see any sort of error output in server.log

I have installed lame, ffmpeg, flac, and faad packages, as well as they WMA LMS plugin.

I tried following this on the wiki page

and I beleive that I did it right, but the NPR streams still do not play.

Can anyone help me determine why these streams will not play and how I can get them to play?

I'd like to install as many codecs as possible to be able to play anything I might want to, and configure /etc/squeezeboxserver/convert.conf accordingly

Most of the information on this seems to be quite dated, it would be nice to get information from someone who has it working on an up to date debian/linux

Windows tablet losing connection to LMS

I previously posted regarding connecting a Kindle Fire, but decided to blow a bit more $ and invested in a Windows tablet/pc, Asus T100TA. (This is full Win 8.1 not RT). Just received it yesterday and my SB3 saw the newly installed LMS easily, played music etc, but...

It plays for a few minutes and then just stops. No real error messages, nothing except the 'can't connect' thing on the SB3 window. When I try to use the SB3 remote to reconnect, it cannot see LMS and I need to go to the web control and start it up again. Needless to say, not tolerable.

I tried a sleep timer reset, putting it at 3 hours (when powered). No dice, still off after a few minutes.

Help...? I haven't had much time with the tablet yet and may still discover something but thought I'd try the lazy way first.

Shortcuts To Web Controls Apparently Not Functional On W.H.S. Install

I have noticed on recent nightly 7.8 updates for the Windows Home Server (V.1) install, the shortcuts on the web control don't appear to be functional on the Windows Home Server.
I can access the web controls from another computer on my home network, using the address http://server:9000, on any web browser.
The shortcuts were active until recently, but for some reason they just don't work now.
I can access the log files from the web control interface on the server and other settings, it's just the "web control" and "advanced settings" shortcuts that don't work.
Can anyone help with this problem please?

Xposed BubbleUPNP module with LMS

Streaming to my 3 Squeezebox Radios and Touches via LMS (on my DS2012+) and (Bubble)UPNP ist no problem at all- and works like a charme as long as I am streaming lets say mp3 and wav files from my rooted HTC one.

I read about the Xposed BubbleUPNP Module (1.8.4) which I installed on my htc one and HP touchpad, but cannot make it work with my LMS/Squeezeboxes. I am getting an errror (Illegal mime type, code 714) when I am starting the audio cast.
Is there anyone here who has got some knowledge what the reason for this could be and/or how to make it work.

Background: my idea was as follows. I am with spotify. In our household there are a few users who all use one account. It is only possible to listen to one music stream at a time. It is possible though to download a playlist to an android device and then turn it into offline mode. These playlists can then be played and listened to on the device. When I then stream this to another Squeezebox box I could listen two two different playlists using the lms (one directly though triodes plugin, the other one through the BubbleUpnPs Xposed module).

Mysqueezebox password not persistent in LMS

I have Arch Linux on Raspberry Pi with LMS 7.8.0 but observed the same behavior on 7.7.3

When I reboot the Pi and LMS restarts none of my apps show. I have to go to settings, clear the username and password on the mysqeezebox.com tab and then enter it and save it and refresh.

Not the end of the world but I have 3 Pi's and every week or two I do an update on the system and it's kind of pain to log back in to all the servers and I realize that I'd really only have to fix one.

Is there any way to make the password persist and auto log into mysqeezebox.com?

Using Windows XP Post Microsoft Support for an LMS host machine

I run Logitech Media Server on a IBM Net Vista Windows XP computer that is left on all of the time basically for that purpose - playing FLAC files and streaming internet radio. It has optical drives for ripping CD's to FLAC and it is also used with Media Monkey software for transcoding FLAC files to Windows Media Audio lossless for use in the car. A newer main computer with Windows 7 Professional is used for other "real data processing" purposes. Microsoft is dropping security support for Windows XP after April 8, 2014. There is updated antivirus software and a NAT firewall on the router. Any comments on using this computer post April 8 for the intended purpose? As many users are experiencing, the hardware is reliable and has run for years without a blip, but one does not want to infect other systems on the network. The newer Win 7 computer can, of course handle the load, but it is nice to have a separate unit dedicated to audio using hardware that is, up to now, solid. One idea I have is to use the drives (with the music) soley for data storage and move LMS to the other computer and have Intenet radio supported on the security enabled Win 7 device. Thanks for any comments or tweaks to better secure the unit (it will be run from a non-administrative login account).

Different volume levels on LMS & mysb.com

I have 2 versions of LMS on 2 separate PCs. T also use mySB.com.

I notice there's a significant volume difference when I switch between the 3 - generally mysb.com and a Cubieboard LMS sound pretty identical. The Joggler LMS always plays at a lower sound level.

Have I missed a basic volume setting somewhere?
