EDIT: found the probable answer here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...eezebox-server. Perhaps if my NAS doesn't have the muscle to run sox, it is disabled. But in SSOTS I do have an option to toggle "transcoding" on or off, and itis currently "on". Hmmm.
I have an SB3 that I have been using for a couple of years. It streams music from my QNAP TS-119, which has been running SSOTS 4.12 with SBS 7.5.4.
I got some new music that wouldn't play on the SB3 - it just came out as white noise. In Foobar2k, it plays fine. It is 96kHz, 24bit FLAC. I did some googling and think that the SBS is supposed to downsample on-the-fly to 44.1kHz, but I thought that perhaps that wasn't working in SBS 7.5.4.
Therefore, I upgraded SSOTS to 4.14 and SBS to 7.6.1. No change - other music plays fine, but not these files. I tested another 96kHz file that I had purchased online from Linn, and that also didn't play (same noise) so I think it's a systemic issue with 96k/24 FLAC.
My next step would be to upgrade to LMS, but I am not convinced that would help and I don't know if my ARM-powered little NAS will play nicely with LMS or not. If anyone can tell me how I can check that my configuration is correct for the required downsampling, that would be great. What should I look for? Is there some log file I can review?
Many thanks.
