I don't know. We've just had quite a few reports about this issue
recently. You should all report the problem to Kaspersky. They might add
a fix/exception in an update. We've seen this happen before (with other
AV products).

Adding User URL streams and Icons to Favourites in LMS

$

Hi folks

A few days ago Tunein removed some of the Belgian stations -- for example I like VRT Klara brussels which I'd had as a favourite.
Tunein removed these stations as they hadn't paid !! -- didn't realize that stations to be listed on tunein had to pay -- anyway whatever the cause it's easy to restore these again.

However it's quite easy once you find the real stream (not the website) and the Icon URL + any descriptive text you need.

Now simply add it into the favourites file

In Windows it's usually in C:\programdata\squeezebox\prefs\favorites.opml.
In most Linux distros it's in \var\lib\squeezeboxserver\prefs\favorites.opml

add your favourite for example VRT Klara in Brussels

<outline URL="http://mp3.streampower.be/klara.aac" icon="http://radiotime-logos.s3.amazonaws.com/s18556q.png" text="VRT Classical" type="audio" />

The ist URL is the STREAM of the radio / music source, the icon URL is after the keyword icon (you can have your own too if you want), add user text and finish with type=audio

File is the same on windows / Linux

You can add favorite from the server settings but you will only get the bog standard favorite icon (heart shape thing) if you do it that way.

Easier to change the opml file.

Icons etc will be shown on your playback devices properly again.

You can also use this method if you lose your icons too or want to change them or the descriptive text.

Cheers

Old devices and Wifi connections (5GHZ)

Hi folks

You might find unless you are using Ethernet that especially with the quite old devices (squeezebox receivers) that they wont be able to connect to LMS with the 5GHZ wifi band.

Switch to 2.4 GHZ band to fix that.

For the latest (just before being discontinued --still the best Internet radios around) they might connect to 5GHZ band if you choose the lower one on your router -- choose something like ch 80 - some devices can't see the higher channels (140 etc).

Cheers

Players drop out for no reason all the time

Hi guys

I am running the following setup:

LMS 7.75 running on a Win7 netbook server (Samsung NC10) - latest LMS version didn't work so I'm on the latest Logitech release
Boom, Radio & Touch linking into LMS
Controllers: iPeng 9.2.1

The problem:
The players just seem to drop out from LMS for no reason. Restarting the router or the netbook gets everything running again, but not for more than a day. iPeng seems to see the server but won't bring up 'General Server Information'. The player selection screen in iPeng is also baffling - only showing one player (unconnected), or sometimes showing them duplicated:
Name: sb1.jpg
Views: 34
Size: 75.3 KBName: sb2.jpg
Views: 31
Size: 125.0 KBName: sb3.jpg
Views: 31
Size: 74.5 KB

In the meantime, the players act like they are connected - ie I can search through the music library on the machines, but whey simply won't play when I select a song. If I am playing internet radio when the system goes down in the background, the unit I am listening to keep streaming radio but will do nothing else. The only time I have actually observed the loss of connection actually take place was when I synced two machines & the whole thing dropped out. Other times, the system just goes down sometime during the day.

Any help..? My whole SB setup is basically unusable as it stands..!

thanks
marc

I wouldn't trust MusicIP's tagging. I think it still dates back from
before utf8 became de-facto standard.

LMS under Win7 Crashing

System/s has been running fine for a long time. But just recently - last month or so - LMS has been regularly freezing. Various players suddenly report no connection to LMS, and LMS on the PC is wholly unresponsive. Solution is to force stop of LMS under Win Task Manager, and then reload the program.

Known recent problem - or is it just me and my system?

LMS Server Not Allowing Devices to Connect

Hi All

My LMS package (7.7.3-023) running on Synology DS209 has started to develop an issue the last week or so where none of my devices can connect to the Server.

The NAS disks are chugging away fine. When I try to access the Web console of the SB Server it takes a long time to respond, but when I go to the DSM console its responding fine.

I've noticed a couple times while investigating things that the Package has gone into stopped state. I found this in the messages log

Nov 15 17:33:42 kernel: [24012.190000] Out of memory: kill process 8193 (slimserver.pl) score 6743 or a child
Nov 15 17:33:42 kernel: [24012.200000] Killed process 8193 (slimserver.pl)

So that will explain why the Package was not running.

In the past this has done it - I've managed to resolve by getting to settings and doing a rescan of the Database but I've had no luck in gettng the Settings Panel up to do that.

Library wise - I have about 18000 tracks - FLAC & MP3....

Any advise on what to grab log file wise (and where) would be most appreciated.....

Thanks in advance

How does it fail? What browser, OS etc.?

And make sure you check your server's server.log file, too.

I'm using Raspbian to build the binary modules for LMS. It's running
just fine.

> What are the downsides compared to the special purpose distributions?

Depends on your goal. It doesn't provide the "one/few click" setup,
needs longer to boot and doesn't handle crashes/power failures as easily
as the optimized distributions.

But then you get a fully working Linux box instead. If that's what you want.

I just moved from windows to linux (Centos 6.8).

I started LMS manually and while rescanning, my terminal session reported many messages of the type:

Unhandled WAV chunk UITS size 1108 (skipped)
Unhandled WAV chunk bext size 858 (skipped)
Unhandled WAV chunk DMC size 16 (skipped)
Unhandled WAV chunk cart size 2048 (skipped)

Are these an issue?

LMS apache reverse proxy

Hello all,

This has been asked some times before over the years.
But I am trying to get LMS running mapped on port 80 via an reverse proxy on my apache server.
I have tried about every example config out there, including the "official" one here on slimdevices.com:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/CleanURL
However, It simply does not work.
The page opens and hangs on
Loading Logitech Media Server...

Has anyone solved this some how in recent years (the link above is from 2008..)

Bert

Problem with Latest Nightly and Android Squeezer

$

Hi
I recently upgraded LMS to 7.9.0-1479378558 of 19 November and since then I am having a strange problem with the Squeezer Android app.
The app successfully detects my music library using 192.168.1.100:9090 as normal. I can browse the library content by all the categories (Artists, Albums, New Music etc.) but it cannot see either of my players (Duet & PiCoreplayer).
I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting Squeezer, stopping and starting LMS but nothing works
The problem immediately disappears when I install an older version of LMS (the version I re-installed was 7.9.0-1479378558)

Any thoughts?
Thanks

P.S The Duet Contoller still works with the lastest nightly.

LMS no longer finds my music

I have LMS v7.7.2 as provided by QNAP in their app center, running on a QNAP TS-459 Pro II. The NAS's OS currently is 4.2.2 (2016/11/02), although this updates frequently and so far these updates never have been a problem.

My 2 players, a Receiver and a Touch, both connect to it, and they also play internet radio.

But since a short while, I can't play my own music, that is stored on the NAS, anymore.

When I start a new media scan, it completes within a few seconds, and finds no music files at all.

I tried to select a different directory to search for music files, but the dialog where you select the folders to search doesn't allow to select subdirectories more than 2 levels below root anymore. When I click on the + left of the folder that contains my music subdirectories, to expand the available subdirectories, the + simply disappears, without any subdirectories showing up. So I can't even select the proper directory anymore.

To try I also let it scan a folder with some music that isn't deeper down than on level 2, but even there it doesn't find the music.

I already stopped and restarted LMS once, but it didn't help.

Do you have any idea what could cause this strange "blindness"?

Control Audio Receiver volume from LMS

Hi,

I have a Logitech Media Server setup on an Intel NUC (connected on a DAC), with Squeezelite as player. I also have an Logitech Harmony Elite (with hub) remote.
Listening music requires to use my phone (Squeeze Control on Android) to control LMS and also my remote to control the amplifier's volume.

I would love to be able to control also the volume from the Squeeze Control application, which I believe means that once the LMS receives Volume Up/Down commands to trigger some actions for the Harmony. Does anyone managed to do something similar ?
Is there any plugin that could do this ? Or is there a plugin that can trigger external actions (like running a script) once LMS receive a command (in my case Volume control) ?
I saw something about an IrBlaster plugin but this seems to require a SqueezeBox hardware...

If you were using Kaspersky, then I'd say it's the culprit anyway.
Sometimes disabling isn't good enough...

Mmm… I puzzled over it to.

I am trying to build a docker image to run LMS from source code. I do the following thing:
1. Use Ubuntu Xenial as base
2. Install required packages: git, lame, faad, flac, sox, libio-socket-ssl-perl, libnet-ssleay-perl
3. Install packages needed for building slim server-vendor (v7.9): gcc, make, yams, nam, libgd3, zlib1g-dev, g++, bzip2, npm and rsync
4. Clone slimserver-vendor: git clone -b public/7.9 --single-branch https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver-vendor.git /tmp/slim_dependencies
5. cd /tmp/slim_dependencies/CPAN && ./buildme.sh

I get an error message about missing nom when not install the it. But with NPM installed, I got the message I posted in the first post.

How to use Virtual Libraries in LMS 7.9

Unfortunately no, the 3rd party who asked me to implement the back-end
for virtual libraries never got to implement the front-end...

The best you have is the Advanced Search: create a search which would
only return the stuff you want. Then save it as a library.

How would you usually access the "special tracks"? If by browsing
folders only, you could use the "normal tracks" folder as the music
folder only, configure LMS to _not_ scan the special tracks (remove the
Music checkbox in the path settings), then access it from the Browse
File System menu.
