How did you enter this path in the settings? Manually? Or have you been
able to navigate there? Can you "ls -l /path..." from a shell to see
what the permissions are?

SB3 LMS 7.9.x rebuffering of LOCAL not streaming files

$

All,

I'm baffled and don't know what to do. I have an old SB Classic that I've had for years.

Player Model: Squeezebox Classic
Player Type: squeezebox2
Firmware: 137
Player IP Address: 192.168.1.66
Player MAC Address: 00:04:20:09:05:4a

It's been connecting to LMS without issue for that entire time. It is part of a 2-SB system, there is an SBRadio in the bedroom. The SBRadio connects via WiFi, the SB Classic is wired to my ATTUverse router. The Linux Kubuntu desktop on which the LMS runs is also wired to the ATTUverse router.

Recently, in the past four weeks, playback on the wired SB2 is interrupted by re-buffering (as the display shows). This re-buffering is intermittent. Last night, for example, I listened to 2 hours of Sibelius symphonic music without one rebuffer. Today, I loaded a playlist and the SB2 re-buffered multiple times in the first 5 minutes. I have not noticed re-buffering on the SBRadio using WiFi nor on a PiCorePlayer using v2 of their release (currently unused).

Today's re-buffering is particularly aggravating as I have spend many hours trouble-shooting what may be awry. This is not a Linux OS Kubuntu system load thing. Top at a zsh shell prompt shows practically no load and many gigabytes of RAM available. Typically I see something like this:

top - 12:34:50 up 3 days, 17:39, 1 user, load average: 0.04, 0.05, 0.03
Tasks: 180 total, 1 running, 179 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
%Cpu(s): 0.1 us, 0.0 sy, 0.0 ni, 99.7 id, 0.0 wa, 0.0 hi, 0.2 si, 0.0 st
KiB Mem : 12215068 total, 244300 free, 539568 used, 11431200 buff/cache
KiB Swap: 9765884 total, 9765884 free, 0 used. 11227496 avail Mem

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
9882 squeeze+ 20 0 325280 213600 10416 S 0.7 1.7 0:06.67 squeezeboxserve

Also ... it seems relevant though I cannot find anything amiss anywhere on the desktop to account for it ... the Default web UI is VERY slow. Page loads are in the 15-second range. Interestingly UIs for Android (SqueezeCommander) and IOS (iPeng) seems completely unaffected--just as snappy and responsive as they've always been.

What I've done?

I have removed/purged LMS and all files/folders
Installed LMS 7.8, configured, and ... the rebuffering resumed.
Updated LMS to latest nightly build, currently 7.9.0 - 1479666929 ... the rebuffering continues.

The Kubuntu system in use is always updated with packages as recommended by Kubuntu as is LMS when new builds are released. Though the Kubuntu desktop is a full install I actually rarely sit down and use it, preferring to use an old laptop running LinuxMint (which I'm typing on right now).

I don't see any setting that allows me to specify buffering options for the LMS.

Agghh - the SB2 just re-buffered again :-/ And again. And again. That's three times in 10 minutes, seven times in 50 minutes total over five separate tracks.

Suggestions welcome.

Information overload

Hello,

I have just pulled the trigger on updating my home IT infrastructure. I have a Synolgy NAS (DS614play) and want to have LMS running off of it 24/7 so as not to tie up my PC running Windows 10. My problem is, that I've been reading the forum for about an hour now and have taken so much info my eyes are glazed over. All I would like to know is what would be the best load to install on my NAS. I'm not really versed into tweeking scripts and such to make things better. My hats off to you smart guys out there that do get into weeds with code and such. Me? I just want to load it up and for it to work. I was about to dump my squeeze duets (for which I have three) and get a Sonos. But thought I would give it one more chance, I do like having a dedicated remote that come with Squeezebox. I was running the system off of my older windows 7 system and had some of the same issues I've seen in this forum. One of the major issues that really got under my skin was the receivers falling off of the network. So, my intent is to have it run on a dedicated server, hopefully with no issues. Please help.

LMS Stops Periodically

LMS stops abruptly sometimes after only a few minutes of play. I'm running LMS on a separate computer using W7Pro OS. The only connections to this computer are power and wired LAN, so I communicate with it using MS Remote Desktop. I have to go to my normal desktop, and using MS Remote Desktop I log onto LMS Control Panel and find the service stopped. I can restart it and it will run for a time between a few minutes or a few hours and then stop again.

My wife likes Pandora and I have that plugin activated. As a trial I asked her not to use Pandora for a time, and it happened only once after that. I can't say for sure that she didn't use Pandora again by mistake, out of habit, so I'm not sure this is conclusive. I've attached the tail of the log file, and noted that the stopping seems to be connected with the following warning:

[16-11-23 22:10:38.0985] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1311) Warning: [22:10:38.0984] DBIx::Class::ResultSet::update_or_create(): Query returned more than one row. SQL that returns multiple rows is DEPRECATED for ->find and ->single at /<C:\PROGRA~2\SQUEEZ~1\server\SqueezeSvr.exe>Slim/Schema.pm line 1885

I've been running and earlier version of LMS, so I updated to 7.9. The same thing happened after this update.

Thanks for any help. My wife it threatening to ask me to change to another system altogether and I hate to abandon LMS after using it all these years.

Routing of different conversion rules and formats to player by MACs

$

Hi.

The custom-convert.conf lets me configure selective routing for particular conversion rules by MAC address.

Now.

What is the prioritization scheme for the rules ?

Let me explain what I would like to do:

All players in the net shall receive "flac flac" and no SRC by default.

Except my main stereo (MAC x:x:x:x:x:x ) shall receive samplerate converted "flac pcm"

To accomplish this I'd have to enable both rules under "Advanced Config/FileTypes".

But. Usually "the upper" rule in the collumn overrides the lower rules.
E.g. "flac flac" if enabled overrides "flac pcm" if also enabled.
Would a MAC routed "flac pcm " roule still work?

What's the logic/limitation here?

Thx

Help calling playlists with spaces in the name through URL

$

I'm trying to integrate my LMS with a home automation server so I can start a couple of playlists on command. They happen to be iTunes playlists in case that matters.

I have done some research and I have a method that works as long as the playlist IDs don't change (but they do so I need a better method):

Code:

/anyurl?p0=playlistcontrol&p1=cmd:load&p2=playlist_id:36708&player=xx%3Axx%3Axx%3Axx%3Axx%3Axx
:)

So I'm trying to call them by name, and this works:

Code:

/anyurl?p0=playlist&p1=play&p2=itunesplaylist:OneWordName&player=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
:)

But some of the playlists I want have spaces in the name. I found some documentation that shows %20 encoding for the spaces in the examples, but they don't work for me (results in an empty play box when looking at the LMS web interface):

Code:

/anyurl?p0=playlist&p1=play&p2=itunesplaylist:Two%20Words&player=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

Can anyone help me call iTunes playlists in LMS via URL with spaces in the name?

m3u playlist not reading all tracks

Hi all
I am using LMS 7.9 on a Synology DS1815+. Almost everything (including on the fly DSD to PCM conversion!) works great. A big THANK YOU to everyone that supports LMS 7.9 and keeps it alive.
However, I have repeatedly been having issues that LMS 7.9 does not read all the tracks in a playlist. jRiver reads and plays all the tracks fine.
The playlists have been created with Playlist Creator 3.6.2. In order for them to work at all in LMS 7.9, I need to open the finished playlist in Notepad++ and re-save it in UTF-8 format. Then most of the tracks are seen and played by LMS.
The following playlist is causing problems. The third track is not being read or displayed by LMS. All the other tracks work fine. Does anyone have an idea what might be the issue?

LMS saved settings

My trusty windows 8.1 PC died over the weekend and I've been spending the time re-installing all my favourite apps on my new Wn10 PC. I've managed to install LMS, but I realise now that when I accessed the control panel by right-clicking on the LMS icon in the tray, I think I've lost all my settings there. Things like my podcast feed and my rss feed addresses

Luckily, I still have access to the old hard disk where I can access the data. Does anyone know if somewhere in the user folder (or sub folder) there's a file that contains all the settings? Maybe an .xml?

Here's hoping

Thanks

TIDAL playing 3/4 of each track when players are synced.

Hi

In addition to this problem http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...Logitech/page5
I also have a problem with the TIDAL app that only occurs when my two players are synced (receiver and boom).
Every single track plays fine about 3/4 of the way, and then it skips to the next track.
When i only play on one of them it plays the entire song.

Any suggestions on how I solve this?

LMS as a Service

Hi Folks

A while ago I installed LMS on my new Windows 10 PC. I recall having a problem getting LMS to start at bootup. I eventually solved it with the help of this Forum. That particular PC has recently 'died' and I'm in the process of reinstalling LMS on the new Win10 PC. I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction of setting LMS up so that it starts at bootup. I seem to recall it was something to do with setting LMS to 'run as a service', (I may have got that wrong though!) but I can't find the relevant post here.

Big thanks

Steve

Lost Settings - Part 2

$

Hi All

After my Win10 PC died that I was running LMS on, I realise now that I have lost all my customised settings, so I don't have anyting to 'copy over' from my old PC to the new one. I'm slowing tweaking the settings within Control Panel, to try and get things 'as they were' but I can't get iPlayer to work. I can see the app on my Radio, but when I click on a past program it just says 'the playlist is empty' even though there's an icon for the program showing. If memory serves, I *think* I need to add an additional triode (?) respository, but the one I added, keeps giving me a '404' error.

Is there somewhere here that has a step-by-step guide to getting iPlayer working?

Thanks everyone

Steve

Spotify/Tidal work okay?

$

It has been maybe a year. I had tried the Triode Spotify plugin and had problems w/ crashing the server occasionally. Also had a problem where I often had to play several tracks before I'd start getting any audio. Tried Tidal and didn't have any crashing problems but still had the issue of having to start several tracks before I'd get any audio coming through.

At the time my server was running on XP (now I'm on Win10).

I guess my question is, do Spotify or Tidal work pretty well with newer versions of the server running on Win10?

Also, any chance the requirement to be using the paid version of Pandora if you aren't using Logitech hardware will be eliminated? I'm using Squeezeplug and don't use Pandora much (1-2 hours/month) and have been thinking about ditching it because even at $5 or $6/month, it just isn't worth it given my usage.

Yes, go 7.9 right away ;-).

You should be able to copy most files. Check Settings/Information to see
where things are stored.

Alas I would not copy the library.db from the cache folder. I'd just
bite the bullet and run a re-scan. And after copying the server.prefs
file you should remove the server_uuid value from it. Just in case you
happened to run both instances in parallel at some point. That's the ID
used by the players to identify a server instance. It must not be
available twice.

Artwork getting applied to totally different tracks in totally different directories

$

I have a .flac file in a folder which has embedded album art:

D:\BobTunes\Imogen Heap\The Shepherdess (live).flac

In a completely different directory, I have a completely different track:

D:\BobTunes\Sophie Lu\ASTRONEER Game Trailer.mp3

However LMS is showing that track using the art from the Imogen Heap track! I've done a complete clear & rescan of the library but it still assigns that Imogen artwork to the completely unrelated track -- and to various other tracks in totally different directories. What's weird is that if I find the said track and click it, I get the generic CD 'no artwork' artwork on the left, but when I click to play it, it pulls up the bad artwork on the player side:

Name: lms-art.png
Views: 23
Size: 61.0 KB

As you can also see above, I am browsed to Albums > No Album which is 4 pages worth of random tracks with varying degrees of completed tags, but nevertheless all have no album tag defined, and LMS has decided that the Imogen Heap one should apply to them all -- except for tracks which do have embedded artwork of their own, and it shows those correctly.. it's just zeroed in on that particular Imogen Heap one to use for everything with no album that doesn't have its own art.

Is this an expected behavior, and if so, is there a way to make it not do this? ;)

Running Logitech Media Server 7.8.0 on Linux; actual music library is on a Windows machine mounted over the network, so from the server's point of view it's scanning /mnt/bobtunes which is D:\BobTunes on the Windows box, if any of that matters.

Thanks for listening.

Missing icon in System Tray

$

Hi guys

Just reinstalled the latest version of LMS on my new Win10 PC. All is working fine after a couple of mis-steps with iPLayer, but I was helpfully pointed in the right direction by this Forum :)

The only niggle now is that the green LMS 'tray' icon isn't showing in the tray. I know there has been many previous posts about this (including a couple from me a few years back where I solved it by adding the file to the startup group) at http://forums.slimdevices.com/search...archid=2547237

So, I confidently repeated the process on my shiny new PC... and it still doesn't show. I even added it as a 'task on startup'... and it still won't show.

Does anyone know whether this is solvable or it's a glitch in LMS under Windows 10?

Many thanks!
