What is the intended sort when selecting "Album" in WebUI?
When I select it, I get all albums grouped by "Number" and not in any order I can detect (only 2 mp3's by name)
(I always sort by Artist, Year, Album, which sorts correctly, so this is more of a curiosity question)

Dear all,
I created for instance the below "Test" browse mode for a certain genre.
Once i click this Test mode shown under "my home" (HOME > Test) only albums with flac files are shown (no MP3s or DSF) in the chosen Album artist folder.
If I instead choose HOME > Album Artists I´m able to see all the albums (either MP3, Flac or DSF).
The above steps are done via the LMS UI (but it occurs also in iPeng).
Can anybody help me out that I would be able to see all albums - no matter what format - of one Album artist (once chosen the "Test" mode)?
Btw...music is stored in the following way on my NAS:
/Music/
/Music/_Flac
/Music/_MP3
/Music/_DSF
Thanks in advance.

Ladies/Gentlemen,
I have encountered a problem with 1 of my 2 SB2 players recently. I am not sure if it is a SuperDateTime screensaver or LMS issue; I am currently using the latest nightly 7.9 version but have tried older ones also. The SDT screensaver does not display on 1 of my SB2 players but does show up on the other; yes I have made sure that the brightness is on. I have compared the setting on both SB units and they seem to match. I have been waiting a few weeks hoping that another LMS version would correct the problem but, as I indicated, I have also tried older versions with no change. Suggestions prior to my having to reinstall LMS from scratch would be welcome!
Thanks,
Eeyore

OK,
in addition to the issue i described
here I have something else for which I don´t find a solution.
I have some albums (with various artists) which I tagged with a specific Album Artist name. Some of those albums are shown in LMS under "Various Artists" but in foobar for instance with the used Album Artists name.
Example: "DJ-Kick" album by Lone
Each song has its own artist but all have the same Album Artist (Lone). Hence I don´t really understand that this album is mentioned with "Various Artists" in LMS.
Then I have another strange thing.
I have one genre which is empty (if I click on it (via iPeng, LMS UI) no album is shown). Does anybody has a clue how I can rid of this?
Thanks in advance.

It has been removed from Windows, yes. All it did for the past few years
was cause some error message when trying to set the priority. I would be
surprised if it ever made a reasonable difference on today's multi-core
computers.

I try and set my Now Playing Information to "Elapsed Time" so that I can actually see where I am in a track on my Squeezebox Classic with a progress bar when I use the smallest font. Some mornings I find that it is set as I left it, but most mornings I find it has somehow been reset to "Small VU and Remaining Time" as it is this morning or one of the other choices. All my other settings seem to remain as I have set them, but this one is being reset somehow most mornings.
Note that I clear the library and rescan everything each morning at 0400 and that I check for and download updates daily when available. The installation of a new update will also change it the majority of times.
Any suggestions as to why Now Playing Information is being reset or how to resolve this?
TIA and with much appreciation for all of the work that's gone into supporting this abandoned app!

What settings would you like to change? And what interface are you
considering? pCP already has a web UI. There's little sense to add
another web UI to LMS to manage pCP.

Is there a browser-based player for LMS - perhaps through one of the 3rd-party skins?
By that I mean that you can listen to stuff via the browser - and, ideally, without installing additional helper applications in the browser.
LMS could transcode to a format support by lots of browsers - such as audio/mpeg via HTML5

Hi;
I have a strange problem:
Suddenly, I can not reach / find any of my players through the old iOS Logitech App.
Strangly, this only happens w/ this old App and using my Atom based LMS (*)
(When I use iPeng or other Apps on Android the Players show up)
Even stranger: When I fire up a different LMS on the same network running on a rpi zero (**), the players are seen via the iOS App!
I rebootet everything a couple of times, updated LMS, reinstalled the iOS App, I have no firewall changed, ....
Can anyone lead me to what to check / what the problem might be?
-> I am currently completely clueless.
Also, It used to work before.
I really would like to get this running again, as I like to have these old iPhones as remotes around in the house.
(I have iPeng, but the old Logitch App was more responsive on these old phones.
Also, I could switch to the much discussed new mobile skin material - but these mobile skins don't run / show on these old phones either, as discussed in the material skin thread....)

Until now I have been running LMS on my Mac, streaming music files to a Raspberry Pi with Squeezepad as the controller on my IPad. Just bought a new amp that features uPNP streaming. So do I need the Raspberry ?
My understanding ( which may be utterly wrong) is that LMS can act as a uPNP server and the amp should connect.
However, if I select the uPNP input option on the amp, it finds my router but on the next sub menu, displays directories that have nothing to do with my Mac (options are Music, Pictures, Documents and Browse Folders). None of these directories are openable.
So, where do I start to try and explore the uPNP option ? There is a plugin ticked on the LMS settings for uPNP / DLNA. Is there something else I am supposed to do ? Does LMS need some sort of uPNP programme to act as a bridge ?
Some direction would be welcome as I clearly havent a clue .. . .

Hi
I use Squeezepad v1.11.6 on my iPad Pro to control playback via my DUET
When I am playing music from my NAS Synology running LMS (beta 7.9.1-168), the app frequently connects/disconnects
Any tips of things to check?
The NAS is directly wired to the Router, the iPad uses the WiFi of course to run the app
Thanks

I have been running LMS for many years, currently with LMS on NAS, with no issues.
Playing from my music collections works fine and synchronised playing works fine.
Current version is: Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.1 - 1504317335 @ Mon Sep 4 22:13:00 UTC 2017
Issue: Everything was working fine however I now have an issue with Synchronising (I think only with certain e.g. BBC) radio stations (is that possible or is the particular station a red herring?).
Issue Symptoms: I try to synchronise radio, all devices show it IS playing as normal with seconds counting up through the track however, the sound output stops as soon as I click synchronise.
I have reviewed setup and incl. factory reset a device and restarted LMS and checked logs and nothing hints at the reason.
Whilst I am technically aware I don't understand enough about the workings to trouble-shoot further.
Is there something obvious I am missing? Any hints welcome!

Your vortexbox cannot reach the internet. Try to restart it, or restart
LMS only. Make sure its network settings are ok.

Hi. I have been using LMS running on a Synology NAS (DS1512+) to stream music files to an Arcam CDS 27 Network (and CD) Player. The CDS 27 will play all the major file types - including hi-res ones (i.e. no transcoding needed) though it doesnt do gapless playback of consecutive files in a playlist. Control of playback is from Arcams own Music Life app on an iPad with Andy's UPNP/DLNA media interface installed on LMS. In the LMS advanced section, all the settings in the file types are default.
I was hoping to use Philippes UPnP/DLNA bridge with iPeng as a control running on an iPad but never managed to chance upon the right configuration for the bridge. It never worked properly - no matter which values I chose. I contacted Arcam support and they were unable to help. This is why I am using Arcams own Music Life app for playback of files rather than the LMS with Philippes bridge. It works fine - on all file types up to and including 24/192.
The version of LMS currently available on the Synology NAS is 7.7.6 - accessed and installed through Synologys own 'package centre'. But the extra functionality of LMS 7.9.2 appeals to me (it is available as a Beta version on the Synology), and I thought I would give it a try.
Most of my music files are WAV. And with 7.9.2 installed over 7.7.6, I cant play any WAVs at all. It will play all the non-WAV files I have - AAC, MP3 and FLAC
Is there something I can do to get WAV to work using 7.9.2? The Arcam players front readout now says unsupported file whenever I try to play a WAV. I can't find a settings menu for Andy's media interface, so am keen to know how - if possible - to fix the problem.
Here is the relevant section of the Server log after the upgrade to 7.9.2..
[18-10-21 10:02:06.3743] main::init (387) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.9.2, 0014.1539701916, Tue Oct 16 17:21:49 CEST 2018) perl 5.024000 - x86_64-linux

If I could use Philippes UPnP/DLNA bridge with iPeng I would be very happy indeed. iPeng is a better controller than the Arcam app. But the Arcam app works, so the next best scenario for me would be to use it with LMS 7.9.2, rather than 7.7.6.
Any ideas would be very welcome.

Not sure, tbh. I thought "SqueezeCenter" was after the "Server" period,
when marketing considered that term too geeky. Changing to LMS was three
marketing teams later :-D

I've a new amplifier that supports uPNP and want to connect it to my music library via LMS (7.9.1). But don't really know where to start.
When I select a uPNP input on the amp it immediately finds my router (a TP Link) and goes on to display 4 sub-directories (Music, Videos, Pictures and Browse Folders). I've no idea where it is picking these folders / options from. None of them can be opened.
uPNP is enabled on the router but it does not list any connections.
My music library is stored at /LMS Music Library/Music/Flac
As an aside LMS also runs the Qobuz plugin. Will I be able to stream this in the way I currently do - LMS - Router - Raspbery Pi - Amp (controlled on Ipad using Squeezepad app)
Thanks
Oh, LMS is running on a Mac by the way (Mojave)

As long as we've had "random whatever" around, people have considered it
not random enough... though all these features are using different
implementations of randomization: some use Perl's, some the database's
random function. Randomness is difficult - to implement as well as
understand.

Following on from the recent addition to Spotty to allow songs flagged as explicit by Spotify I wondered if this could be done more generally in LMS.
A comment from Michael implied to me that using the 7.9 multi library support would be the way to do it.
My thought was to use the non-standard, but used by Apple iTunes, ID3 tag of "ITUNESADVISORY" as the filter.
i.e. player(s) could be limited to songs from the library that do not have this attribute (or potentially others ones as well, or even by artist names or album titles ...).
Is this the way to do it?
FYI re iTunes
https://www.maketecheasier.com/add-e...n-tags-itunes/
More generic would also allow blocking by radio station name or even automatic muting when streaming certain stuff.
I do not have a real need for this myself but wondering if it could be useful for those with young kids in the house.

All,
How difficult would it be to modify the LMS web UI? My only desire is to put the "All Albums" listing one sees at the *bottom* of the Genres view to the *top* of the Genres view. Obviously code exists to create that entry for the Genre view or it would not be there. And there is likely code that sorts that listing and then adds the "All Albums" listing at the bottom. Might any of you know where this would be? Figure no one can say "no" if I don't ask.
Since it's highly unlikely that the NAS326 devs are ever going to provide an upgrade to the LMS that comes with it and my doing so is highly problematic (would likely need a new version of Perl, etc.), I cannot use (without creating an entirely separate LMS server) a new version of LMS, so I'm stuck with modifying the version that comes with LMS. I'm not complaining, btw, because it works quite well thus far.
