LMS won't recognize music folder

$

Sorry if this has been posted/discussed elsewhere but I didn't see it...

Running LMS in Windows 7 for a transporter connected via wifi. Normally works more or less fine (garbled artists name etc. but what else is new) but since yesterday it will not recognize my music folders anymore from my external HD. Scanning for music doesn't access folder there so no music is shown/displayed in media scan detail. It does recognize folders on laptop or USB stick but not from the external HD. Can access external HD without problems via media player (yes, I still use that) or manually but LMS doesn't seem to 'see' the folders. No OS update made (as far as I know) so I am stumped. Any suggestions are welcome...scanned ports (I think) and didn't see anything out of place either. Tried different USB port with same result. Also ran cleanup with no change...

Thanks

As outlined before, this is a problem with El Capitan being outdated in
some aspect(s). I tried to pull some of those URLs using curl, and it
failed in similar ways. It might be the openssl implementation used on
El Capitan - in which case updating the Perl modules wouldn't help.

From your previous postings it wasn't clear to me what exactly you
tried: you mentioned a new Perl version as well as updating the two
modules mentioned above. Were these two independent attempts? Maybe you
should look into updating OpenSSL?

And your thread title should be a bit more specific, or it will soon be
"spammed" with lots of totally unrelated issues...

Connected to LMS? MySB? Restarted the units? Checked the server?

Lack of the most basic information in a request for help is not a big
deal, just annoying.

Most likely this is a permissions issue on some of the folders LMS uses.
You can download this little automator script to fix them:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bpx32ytk7y...sions.zip?dl=0

Extract the file, run the script, and try to start LMS again.

LMS CLI Subscribe to Single Playlist Events

$

Using the LMS CLI, is it possible to subscribe to specific playlist events like, playlist newsong, playlist pause, etc. rather than all playlist events? I don't see an example of it in the documentation and I haven't come up with much searching the forum either.

I've tried variations of:

subscribe playlist newsong
subscribe playlist%20newsong
subscribe playlist:newsong
subscribe playlist[newsong]

Etc. just fishing around trying to find a working combination but the command either doesn't do anything at all or it just gives me all playlist events.

Also, is there a difference in the "pause" event and the "playlist pause" event other than what the CLI returns when the event occurs? In other words, when you press pause on a player is that always a pause event *and* a playlist pause event?

That Bartók album did not make any problems until now, as far as I know. I checked the tags and the filenames and compared it to other Bartók albums and found no difference when it came to Bartók spellings.

I upgraded to the latest QLMS (2.02) version and that installed the latest nightly, so I'm not sure what caused what.

No. Not without a lot of effort, probably even server code change.

I guess the reason is as simple as: I didn't get it to work in the
little time I planned to spend on that platform...

You can always try to compile yourself. Sources and patches can be found

LMS Won't Play MP3 Exported From Audacity

Not sure what to make of this. I recorded some music with Audacity & then exported it to 320k CBR. It plays in the car, on the mobile, in Windows but won't play in LMS. LMS goes through the motions of playing with the track progress bar ticking along as usual but no sound.

Any ideas?

Random album list with some search criteria

Hi,

is it possible to get a random album list with some limitations, e.g. only albums from years 1972 to 1979 an genre contains Rock (*Rock*).

perl 5.28

$

I just upgraded to Fedora 29. The http://www.squeezecommunity.org/repo/fedora/ repository does not have a package for 29, so I tried to use the one for Fedora 28, but it fails to install because of a dependancy on perl 5.26.2. Fedora 29 comes with 5.28.

Is there any ETA for a Fedora 29 package?
Does anyone know of a way to (easily) install the Fedora 28 package on Fedora 29?

TIA

Sleep/Power Issues with LMS 7.9.1 on macOS High Sierra

$

My Squeezebox players (one Radio, two Touches, one wired, two on wifi) can wake my iMac running LMS 7.9.1 (1522157629, Fri Mar 30 12:22:47 CEST 2018).

However, they cannot KEEP the iMac/LMS awake. My iMac is wired to my router.

The iMac goes back to sleep after about 30 seconds and the music stops on my players after about 70 seconds.

If I re-wake my iMac with a Wake On LAN app on my phone, playing will resume for only another ~70 seconds and my iMac goes back to sleep.

If I set my iMac to "never sleep" in Energy Saver, everything works fine...but it burns through a lot of power 24/7.

My iMac is running 10.13.6; it is an older iMac so it still has separate "computer" and "display" sleep sliders under Energy Saver.

I have adjusted the settings of Prevent System Standby and that does not make any difference.

This is really hard to debug so I am looking for any tips that I can get.

Thanks,
JPEG

Case Sensitive Player MAC with wget but Not HTTP?

Maybe this is known, but in case not, I can use this url in a browser to display the correct cover art (notice mac is all caps):

Code:

http://192.168.1.201:9000/music/current/cover?player=B8:27:EB:94:AE:63
But if I wget from the command line the same url it gets a default icon cover art, notice the file size difference between the two requests with the only change being the case of the mac address:

Code:

root@pi3-LMS:/home/tc# wget http://192.168.1.201:9000/music/current/cover?player=B8:27:EB:94:AE:63 -O cover
Connecting to 192.168.1.201:9000 (192.168.1.201:9000)
cover                100% |**********************************************************************************| 30980  0:00:00 ETA
root@pi3-LMS:/home/tc#  wget http://192.168.1.201:9000/music/current/cover?player=b8:27:eb:94:ae:63 -O cover
Connecting to 192.168.1.201:9000 (192.168.1.201:9000)
cover                100% |**********************************************************************************|  126k  0:00:00 ETA

The all lower case mac gets the correct cover art.

Playing tracks in with different sample rates in radom mix

$

I do have a growing number of albums in higher sample rates such as 24/96.

When I do play my albums in random titel mix, I do experience something I do not like and wonder if I can fix it.

The situation is as follows:
If the sample rate is going down from one track to another (eg 96 followed by 44.1), some split seconds are missing from the track in 44.1
If the sampe rate is going up, no problem.

Sure, the reason is that the external DAC requires some time to switch from one sample time to another.
Therefore, I did some testing with the setting "Audio Startup Time". But is seems that this feature is not working - at least in my set-up.
I tried different values, but there is no delay.

As alternative I am wondering to resample everything in LMS to the same rate.

Any ideas / suggestions?
