I have been using the
http://lmsip:9000/stream.mp3 in an experiment to get Amazon Alexa device to act as a (sort of) LMS player.
It works - but - there is a big lag between doing things forcing a "next track" event and the music changing.
I suspect that this is because the device requests data up to an internal memory size limit so that it can buffer things to cover temporary delays in internet transmissions or a pause to allow an Alexa announcement to be played.
Could there be a way for LMS to throttle how much it sends out (perhaps configurable per player) so that it stalls responding to GETs until it calculates that the device should have X seconds of data ahead of the calculated expected playout.
If X was around 2-5 seconds then I suspect that it would make the response to Next Track and similar much more like a real device using Slimproto.
Making it configurable per device (with default of no throttling) then this would not have unexpected side effects on other users of stream.mp3
I had a quick look at slimserver/Slim/Web/HTTP.pm and can see where it starts - but I didn't spot where I might be able to add code to do this sort of thing.

I have a problem with playing radio streams. I can start a stream via Radio -> Local -> Stations -> any station, or by just hitting Play when I also last played the radio station. However, after a while, the stream just stops playing. This can be after an hour or after 5 minutes.
I checked multiple stations and all stations have the problem. Also, this is normally on my Squeezebox Classic, but I tested with the SqueezePad app on my iPad and it behaves the same as well. So I think it's an issue with my LMS.
However, I can't see anything in the logs related to this. No new log entries when the problem occurs. I do see other errors/warnings but they are not related AFAIK.

Hi folks,
I'm a long time Squeezebox 2 user with the server running on my mac.
A year or so ago I switched to Chromecast audio as I mostly use Spotify, it works great.
But I'd like to also stream music from my Mac. Does anyone know how to do this and control it from my phone as I do spotify? Can SB server be connected to Chromecast and controlled from a iphone app?

I am using Andy Grundman's plugin together with mconnect or BubbleUPnP on my Android.
Everything works very fine with one exception:
The playlist does not contiune but stops after the first song - no matter what source I take (Qobuz, loca files, etc)
When I look into the protocoll of this plugin I can even see the "NextAVTransportURI" ponting to the next song in the playlist, but the stream doesnot continue.
I am wondering whether this is a bug in the plugin or something I can solve with any change in my settings.

Not sure if I'm in the right forum, it's hard to tell where my problem is.
I'm running picoreplayer on a raspi3.
When playing music, after about 15 mins or so the music develops clicks throughout.
I am using the app Spotty to stream spotify and picoreplayer is running squeezelite, lms and shairport. I am not running the shairport app on lms, although I have in the past. I thought this was the issue, so I killed it, but it doesn't seem to have helped.
I thought maybe it was because it was trying to sync to another picoreplayer in the house so I killed that too but it doesn't seem to have fixed it.
The clicking generally continues after I pause the music, in fact it generally continues after a lms reboot, although stops after a full rasberrypi reboot.
Any ideas?

I'd still bet it's a permissions issue. Make sure the Squeezebox user
has access to all levels of that path (not only the Albums folder, but
/home, /home/music etc., every level).
Because that might be a bit tricky, I'd suggest you just move a bunch of
files to a folder outside /home. Give it full access to everybody and it
will work. Now you can go from there. Reset permissions to be only
accessible to the owner and group. Make the Squeezebox user part of that
group. It should still work.

This tells me that you've been doing more than you should ever have. You
mentioned installing the RPM file. What else?

'locate' will not find any file, will it? And why would you expect this
string to be human readable in the file?
IMHO you're making too many assumptions, trying too many things. I'd
suggest you start from scratch. Remove anything SB related. Search your
disk for anything *squeezeboxserver*. Install 7.9.2 RPM. Start with a
new music folder outside /home. Then try again. If you can't "Browse
Musicfolder" in to that folder, then you've got a permissions issue.

(current situation)
I run LMS (flac native setting) on a NAS which delivers to an EDO Touch (ethernet hardwired) which then sends those flac files by way of USB-out to a two channel DAC and then on to my traditional stereo rig. Pretty standard so far. I ALSO have a number of 6 channel [5.1] surround sound flac files on my NAS. I have high confidence these are true 6 channel 5.1 surround sound flac files. My LMS sees those files and delivers them as very large flac files to my Touch. Touch sees those files, recognizes them as very large flac files, and pases them on to a 2 channel DAC which feeds then to my stereo where they play in stereo.

I will be setting up a second system for 5.1 (6 channel) surround sound. I want to use as much of the Logitech ecosystem as possible in that system.
(questions)
1. Is the LMS delivering all 6 chnnels of those 6 channel flac files, or is it down-mixing to stereo?
2. If LMS is delivering the full 6 channel flac file, is the EDO Touch pulling just two channels, or is it passing all 6 channels through usb-out to the DAC?
3. If the Touch is incapable of passing through all 6 channels (assuming all 6 are ariving from LMS) is there another squeeze player that will pass through all 6 channels to a surround sound (6 channel flac) capable system?
(goal)
To use as much of my existing file delivery ecosystem as possible to deliver 6 channel flac files to a new surround sound system.

Sometime in that past few days all of my playlists have disappeared. No updates applied but I did not notice that a recent rescan did the whole library. Has something wiped it out?
The playlist folder setting looks ok = /storage/music/playlist (Linux) and the .m3u files are there but the folder looks empty via the LMS interface.
I've tried creating a new folder with a copy of the playlists, changed the settings to match and restarted LMS but no joy .

Hello,
I'm planning to install a home automation system.
I've already started some testing, especially for the multi-room audio function.
My current test config is :
- a RPI 3B running as server (Picoreplayer 3.50 with LMS activated),
- 2 RPI zero (one with Justboom Amp, the other with Hifiberry DAC, both with Picoreplayer 3.50 and Squeezelite player activated).
All this is running fine.
My final config will integrate 10 players (10 RPI zero, with wired LAN), and if possible the ability to stream analogue audio with 'low' latency (typically 100 or 200 ms, mainly for TV audio).
For this I've purchased a ADC + DAC module, plugged it onto the RPI server, and activated the Wavein plugin on this RPI.
With this the LMS server can stream analogue audio, but the latency is high (about 3 seconds).
So I have 2 questions :
- has someone already tried a similar config : 10 RPI players + 1 RPI server, all wired connected ?
- has someone tried to reduce the streaming latency, in the case of a local ADC source ?
From what I've seen on forums, LMS treats this ADC stream as a remote (Internet) stream, and so uses a reception buffer of about 3 seconds of data; which is probably oversized for a local stream.
Maybe there is a better way to stream an analogue audio source ?

Hi, I have been using an Innuos Zen server since Jan 2016, and very happy with the use through the Vortexbox interface and Logitech LMS, using iPeng on my iPad.
A few days ago I tried to update the SW by clicking on the carton box on the left sidebar. That update did not complete, and I got a few errors on update packages for LMS. Ripping and playing music is still working fine, but now the ripper never adds the artwork.
Also,clicking on the 'Get CD Coverart' button ends in a 404 error for nginx/1.4.7
I really am a 'User', not an IT tech wizard, even after 31 years in IBM:o

I have an album - Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit is the artist and the album is the same name, Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit. There is a track on that album that I cannot get to appear with the other tracks. So when I view by artist I see two albums, both called Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit.
Is there a way to force the song onto the other album. I have triple checked the tags. Every track has the same exact value in Artist, Album Artist, and Album: "Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit"
I use Media Monkey for tagging (because of the tag from web feature, and it only sees one album.

I have just installed a "PiHole" advert blocking system, which among other things allows me to log what DNS queries are being made on my network. I have discovered that something (unfortunately, because of the way my network is configured, I cannot easily find out what) is doing a DNS query for "jive.squeezenetwork.com" every few seconds. This is obviously a fault, which I would like to fix, if only so the PiHole logs are not swamped by these queries; whatever is making the query gets an answer, so it shouldn't be repeating the request (thinks; is something crashing and restarting every few seconds and making the query at startup? I should look into that. There are a few server restarts in the log, but only 1 or 2 a day). The clients all work just fine.
Before I start doing some deep tinkering to find out what is going on, does this sound familiar to anyone? A Google search has not lead to anything helpful.
I am running Logitech Media Server (v7.9.2, 1547382380, Sun Jan 13 13:47:26 CET 2019) perl 5.026001 - x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi on Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon. I have 2 Duets and an SB3 client. I am using the startup switches "SLIMOPTIONS=--noimage --novideo --noupnp --nosb1slimp3syn --nomysqueezebox". I am not running any plugins. There are no relevant looking errors in the server log

I use random mix almost exclusively. Have been for 10 years. It's what I like best about LMS. My personal music collection makes the greatest radio station of all time.
A number of years ago I started using Squeezy and cron to automate the music in my house.
About a month ago I noticed the my Random Mix genres had reset to only two selections. Usually it's around 8 genres out of 30 +/-.
I select and save my preferred genres and everything is fine until the next day.
The cron job turns players on and off at predetermined times.
Also certain playlists are programmed to start before bedtime, classical for the wife, Early morning a playlist for smooth jazz starts early in the morning.
10:00 am random kicks off for the rest of the day.
This has worked flawlessly until about a month ago. All players, functions, and volume settings continue to work as scheduled and expected. The only issue is the genre choices get changed to only two selections, it's always the same two, instead of the selected and saved choices. There is no reason for these to change. Except Christmas when I add the xmas genre.
It's not 100% everyday but 4 out of 5 maybe higher.
I've stopped and started LMS numerous times. It hasn't helped.
It's easy enough to change but it bugs me that after years of flawless execution I now have to intervene.

I should know this but don't. Using the web interface, how do I switch a player to another library on another server (different machine within my network)? I generally do this with iPeng, but can't figure out how to do this with LMS directly.

Hi I made the podcast plugin work today, yeah!
However I have a couple of questions:
Is it possible to rearrange the order of the streams I have subscribed to?
Can the podcast logo aka album cover somehow be displayed in this list? It would be nice to have in the overview whereas most subscriptions show the same cover for every episode and hence are unnecessary.
Is there a method to display the read/unread-status? And also a method to save the actual position?

I noticed many lines in the scanner.log e.g.
Scanner::Local::new (891) Handling new playlist ... CDImage.cue
and then
Slim::Formats::Playlists::CUE::parse (473) Error: Couldn't find referenced FILE: [some.wav] on disk! Skipping!
I thought .cue files were artefacts of disc rips to a single file (I've converted all mine to be file-per-track now as I found it easier with tagging) so how/why is LMS scanner bothering with them?
Or should I just delete them? (Was slightly hesitant just in case I need them again!)

Hello,
I have been running Logitech Media Server on Debian Linux for 10+ years with no problems. About a week ago my Squeezebox died on me, so I'm looking to replace it with a DLNA/UPnP capable device (Onkyo TX-8270) to play my music. I have the DLNA/UPnP plugin running on LMS, but when I use any software based DLNA/UPnP client, such as Windows Media Player, it does not "see" the server. There does not seem to be any errors in the DLNA/UPnP plugin log file...
Help!!! :confused:

I have had to replace my Squeezebox with a DLNA/UPnP streaming device (Onkyo TX-8270 Stereo Receiver), but I'm finding the LMS DLNA/UPnP bridge to be flakey.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a LMS replacement? I'm currently looking into Roon Core, but I know it does not support WAV with Cue sheet.
