LMS 7.9.2 on Synology looses clients, lms stops working after 10-20h

Dear forum,

I have major issues with my multiroom setup with the latest LMS 7.9.2 on my synology 1513+. The precise software versions and setup is at the end of this post. All software has been updated to the latest available version. The problem:

The overall multiroom setup has been working for ca. 1,5 years now with only occasional problems, usually a disconnected client once in a while which always was a nuisance but it never got to a state where I felt to fix it for good (although the WAF was impacted a lot). A reboot of the client usually solved it. Now, after some recent updates to both the synology NAS OS (DSM), the most recent LMS version provided by user pinkdot, and also the max2play version (2.48) the overall setup is as good as unusable and the debugging is a headache. Here are the problems:

1. LMS seems to just stop working roughly after a few hours of operation (ca. 20h). The web interface is not reachable anymore. There is now error, the browser just seems to load forever without showing the LMS interface. Only solution: Killing the server and restarting it. The log shows many entries concerning the sharetunes plugin but I am not sure what it means (please see below).

2. Clients disconnect arbitrarily after 1-2h. There are two different types of disconnet. Most often, they can not be seen anymore in LMS (after LMS has been restarted) but they still are accessible in the network (both per ssh and the max2play web interface). Sometimes they disappear completely from the network. There logs do not show any information, the just disconnect.

3. If the system works (usually after rebooting all clients and the server and then for a few minutes) playing music first works but then the music suddenly stops playing for some time (seconds to minutes) and then sometimes the restart playing again.

Usually, bringing all up-to-date to the latest versions is a good fix but not this time. Any ideas what is going on?

Help: LMS Players lose connection

Hi,

i run the LMS since a few years ... but actually i have some real problems becaus the Server often can't be found by the clients and it is unbearably slow if i try to get him over my Synology NAS and his webinterface.

My Server Setup:
Synology Diskstation DS214play with DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 6
Logitech Media Server 7.9.1-168
Plugin: Only Spotty 2.1.8
Local Media Library: ca 85.000 Tracks (MP3 320kps)

My Clients:
3 x Squeezebox Radio
1 x Squeezebox Touch
iPeng as Controller App on IOS12

A few month ago everything works fine ... but since 2 or 3 month i have massive problems with my LMS. Several times a day the clients lose the connection to the LSM. If i try to open the LMS Webinterface on my Synology NAS it is unbearably slow or does not work. After some time / hours i could be that everything works again fine and all clients connect themself.

Here is my Serverlogfile ... i hope you can find the reaseon for my problem.


I do not know how to continue ... please help me.

You want to prevent the kids from using their SB? I did start working on
such a plugin a few years ago, but never finished it... The kids soon
understood that if they used the SB when they were not allowed to use
them, the SB would be gone :-). (it still happens of course, but this is
part of the growing up experience)

Can't connect to server

I had a power shutdown at my house. Usually I just have to restart the sb devices, and it's all set to go. Now the devices won't connect. I have no idea what to do. I have tried to restart computer, devices, router, server. The diagnosis of LMA says all ok, but no connected players. I have boom, duet and radio. Don't now what info you might need to figure anything out, but please ask. Running version 7.7.6

Basic questions - which LMS is most current for RN312?

I have two SB Radios - faithful beasts and I applaud the community here for their dedication.

I use a Readynas RN312 with these two radios and until now this has served my needs by:
a) Playing spotify
b) Playing radio
c) Playing podcasts

CUrrent version of the LMS on the Readynas is: 7.9.0 - TRUNK @ UNKNOWN
Current version of software on the radios is 7.7.3r16676

The radios were in storage during some building work and now that is over I'm trying to get things up and running again. All is fine apart from podcasts which all fetch an uptodate list of the podcasts but all fail to load with a 'Connection timed out' error.

If I connect to mysqueezebox.com, some of the podcasts load but several fail with a 403 forbidden error.

My questions:
1) Any software I should be updating here? I know there is 7.9.1 (unsupported) and tried uploading the debian x86 package to the Readynas. It seemed to install (successful message) but the same version of the LMS (7.9.0) is on the NAS.
2) What's going on with my podcasts?

Grateful for any help. Apologies for wafer-thin knowledge of how these things really work. But so reluctant to try another solution to my audio needs here as I love these two radios.

would it be possible to protect setup part of LMS via PIN or password?

As far as i understood the pasword protection on setup->advanced is protecting entire LMS for using (perhaps im wrong then please correct).
I'm looking for a way to protect the setup part where all the setting are located. Preventing setup accident's from other users.

CLI command for adding current track to playlist

Hi.

What's the correct CLI command to add the currently playing track to a playlist named "Review Later" (if that's possible)? Over time I've tried several commands but the tracks never show up in the playlist.


Oh, and an extra bonus would be: if for some reason I have accidentally deleted my playlist "Review Later" LMS should recreate it before adding the current track (unless it does so anyway). But as I said, I never got this far.

There are, but x86_64 only.

I try to avoid "exotic" platforms, as they're just ballast for 99+% of
the users. And as you noticed yourself, i386 is becoming exotic. I
usually wait a while after a new Perl has shown up to see what platforms
people are asking for support for it.

How are videos streamed (Why are my MKV not playable)?

I use minidlna on a raspberry to stream my MKV videos to my TV. I also use LMS for streaming audio to my squeezeboxes. I thought about doing the video also with LMS but the videos are not playable on my TV. They are displayed as folders and files, though. I was wondering which part of LMS is doing the streaming, since minidlna works fine with all my files.

Administrator Privileges

I am running Logitech Media Server Version 7.9.2/r1555406898.
On previous versions, I have been able to run it as administrator and the red warning disappeared from the top of the Logitech Media Server control panel, but this version does not seem to allow a right click "run as administrator" from the start menu.
I am running Windows 10 64 bit, auto updated by Microsoft.
Is this a known issue or does the red warning stay put, in this version, whether its in administrator mode or not?
The version is working as expected in all other respects.

Upgraded to 7.9.2. Library/My Music won't play any music.

I upgraded to 7.9.2 and nothing will play from my library/My Music. All of my albums are there and indexed. The album and artwork loads onto the right side of screen in LMS but no sound. The display shows LMS trying to play a few seconds of the first track then it skips down to the last track without a note of music heard. Using Ipeng it pops up that it can't open the file.

I can play Tidal and flac files not lumped with Itunes without any problem. Use Itunes is checked in settings. I tried to attach my zipped log to this but the upload repeatedly failed. It looks like my information tab screen cut/paste did attach. I am not an advanced IT person. Just a music lover stuck playing Tidal all the time.

7.9.2 hangs mounted share/stops scanning

When preforming a scan, part seems to hang around the same spot and the system kinda just falls apart until a hard reboot. Running arm debian on odroid xau4

Can not validate mysqueezebox.com account error from LMS

Hi All,

Firstly thank you for keeping LMS alive :D

I have been using LMS on my server(s) for years without a problem then recently I am no longer able to connect to mysqueezebox.com either directly from the squeezebox radio, or when I try in LMS.
LMS gives me the following error: "An unexpected error has occurred while validating your mysqueezebox.com account. Please make sure your network connectivity is working fine".

Now I have just replaced my ASUS router for a newer model, but this problem was present before the upgrade with the radios giving me the red connectivity icon when steaming from an app.
On the diagnostics tab everything is "OK" and I can browser to mysqueezebox (and log in) on the same computer.

Any ideas please? PC is running Windows Server Standard 2019.

LMS not showing SDT screensaver and has constant asterisk on screen

To all,

I recently began having this problem on my 2 SB2s after I installed the latest version of SDT; it was loaded via the repository. I have uninstalled/reinstalled SDT with no change. I manually placed SDT instead of using the repository but that did not help either. I checked both devices to see that they are set to use SDT and not Date/Time or none. Another bit of information is that before the problem started my first SB2 would not start but gave the message that I should contact MSB.com to reset the MAC address. I was able to get into MSB.com just fine and it showed that both devices were detected. When I left the MSB.com site the SB2 started up but had the problem with SDT and the asterisk; and both SB2s still have the problem..

Suggestions would be appreciated,

Issue with logitechmediaserver_7.9.2~1559133196_amd64.deb?

I just updated to logitechmediaserver_7.9.2~1559133196_amd64.deb on my Ubuntu LMS server and now cannot connect to LMS.

I'm wondering if there is an issue with the update. I know fairly recently a .pm file was checked in which would not compile and this totally broke LMS for me. I had to manually update the .pm and restart.

Where can I see if there are any perl compilation errors on a Ubuntu install? There's nothing immediately obvious in server.log. Journalctl says something has gone wrong when the service restarts.

Is there a stable version of 7.9.2? I'm only aware of the nightly builds. Or is it possible to download earlier nightly builds and reinstall?

Lost connection to LMS, think port 9000 is blocked

Hi all,

So last night all of a sudden I lost connection to both the LMS web UI and all players lost contact to LMS. Interestingly I can connect to mysqueezebox so can get deezer etc., but nothing local. Restarted LMS service, restarted router and server, but nothing changed.

I can ping my server no problem and access the music folders via a Samba server. However, when I opened a telnet link to the 9000 port from my laptop I get

I've checked the LMS log and it seems to start fine, but then all connections time out (see below)

I'm pretty confused. It seems like the port is blocked to out-going traffic.

I'm running LMS 7.9.1 on Ubuntu 17.10 server. SBs are Touch, Receiver and 2 radios, all using wifi.

I'm no Linux wiz so if you could include commands to use if asking me to do stuff, that'd be great.

How can I shuffle the play queue this way?

Hello,

I have a music selection and playback workflow that I developed with several other players. It's fairly simple, but I can't figure out exactly how to do it with LMS. Let me describe that workflow:

1. Find albums, one by one, and add them to the play queue. I can do this with LMS.
2. Shuffle the songs in the play queue so they are in a random-ish order and then leave them in that same order. I know how to turn on shuffle mode, but it doesn't act the way I expect. It seems to reshuffle any time tracks are added. Which I don't want it to do because...
3. Hours later, I add another album or two.
4. Shuffle only the remaining tracks, including the newly added files.

What keeps happening to me is, when I add a track or an album, LMS re-shuffles the play queue and then songs that have already played are shuffled back into the mix. Also, the order that was there before is gone. I sometimes like to insert a track or two into a random mix. With shuffle mode turned on, I don't seem to be able to do this.

What I'd really like to find is a way to just shuffle the tracks in the play queue *once* and not keep reshuffling them. Ideally I would be able to only shuffle the remaining tracks so I don't get repeats of tracks I already heard from this play queue.

Are there a combination of plugins that might let me do this? Or any other clever techniques I could use to emulate this?
