Issues with scanning new music

$

I am, right this very minute, erasing and re-scanning my entire
collection because I noticed that 100s of albums now show 2, 3, or 4
times in the list when I look at, say, Genre.

But ... I'm using an older version:Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.1
- 1522157629 @ Fri Mar 30 12:17:59 WEDT 2018

Still, many, many, many duplications. And sometimes, and the reason I
started the rescan, I see either tracks duplicated under one album
listing or multiple albums with the same set of tracks.

Browse Discs and folders problem

Pi4/pCP, latest LMS nightly, 18000+ music files on mounted SSD drive, LMS scans the music folder on this drive.

I also have 60,000+ music files on this drive that I access through Discs and folders. This works okay most of the time. However, for some time (months?), browsing D&F shows "Empty". This occurs even when I'm actually playing an album/tracks that I've started by browsing D&F.

Restarting LMS always fixes the problem, but it's becoming a pain. LMS/Settings/Information/Server logs shows -

My LMS Raspberry Pi 4 projects

$

Howdy folks! I posted some time ago about getting a more "eco-friendly" alternative to my soon-to-be extinct Windows 7 LMS PC's and got great guidance, I believe, on getting Raspberry Pi's. Here's my project plans and where I need some guidance:
I plan on making 2 Raspberry Pi devices:
Pi #1 is a Pi 4b with an Audio Injector Stereo Sound Card (http://www.audioinjector.net/rpi-hat). I chose this card because it has a Stereo Audio Input as well as Output. This Pi have the following functions:
1. It will take audio passed from our family TV's HDMI Inputs (ala Fire Stick, Roku, etc) and pass the Audio to the Output and then to a Stereo Receiver and speakers. I intend to use the Pi with the Unified Remote App to control volume remotely with a phone or Wireless keyboard. 2. I want this Pi to have a Squeezeplay (Jive) session that I can also play music on when the TV is off. 3. I want to be able to play local videos on an attached hard drive via VLC Media Player. 4. I'd like to have LMS installed as a backup LMS Server. 5. I'd like it to have Internet Browser capabilities to play media from sites unavailable through Roku or Amazon. My current understanding is that the Pi Desktop environment will work best.

So far on this Pi I've got the Audio pass through working and LMS installed and working. The part I'm having trouble with currently is getting the right version of Squeezeplay to run on the Raspberry Pi desktop environment, in a window, like it does on my Windows PC. The ones I've gotten to run basically take over the screen of the Raspberry Pi desktop and I have to force a reboot to get the desktop back. I think there's a key concept I'm missing in my understanding of how the Squeezeplay (Squeezelite, Jivelite, etc) work.

Pi #2 is also a Pi 4b and will simply be the main LMS server for the household. No audio output will be needed on this Pi as it will simply act as server. I think the setup for this one will be pretty straightforward.

Should PiCoreplayer be a part of this setup? I feel like I'm missing what PiCoreplayer actually is. Is it simply a stripped down OS that only runs LMS and or Squeezeplay/Jive? Or does it run on top of Raspian?

I really appreciate all you folks do and I sincerely hope to pass it along somehow as my knowledge and skills increase. Fun Stuff!

As per the title, I tried updating to the latest nightly (I was interested in Opus playback) but the server was not able to start. The process kept being in execution, with about 15% CPU usage (on a 4770K, so quite high). Waited ten minutes or so, nothing. Installed again, same result. Installed 7.9.1 over everything and it works perfectly as before.

Unfortunately, unless I've missed it, there's no way to download previous nightlies.

System is Windows 10 Pro 1903 x64, i7 4770K, 32GB RAM. Available to provide further details, in case it's needed.

Qobuz Dropouts

I am running LMS 7.9 with the Qobuz plugin. All was well until a few weeks ago when I started having total dropouts when playing back Qobuz playlsists. They only last for a second or two and happen every couple of minutes (varying, not periodic). It does not happen if I am playing Qobuz playlists directly on my Mac, suggesting it is an issue related to Wifi coverage (playback is via UPnP and using Squeezepad as a controller).

I can't think of anything in the house that could suddenly have started disrupting things and have tried turning several appliances etc. off to no avail.
I did change the Mac OS to Catalina a few weeks back - would this have anything to do with it ?

Qobuz version is
JS version5.3.0-b009
Desktop version5.3.0-b005

Any ideas where can start to look for the source of the problem ?
Thanks

Logitech Media Server 7.9.2 released

It only took me about two years to finalise the next minor release in the LMS 7.9 branch - 7.9.2. It's finally released.

  • Improved RandomPlay and Don't Stop the Music integration
  • Support for the OPUS codec
  • A plugin to edit your Presets
  • Support for newer platforms added
  • ...and a lot more

More details are available here: http://htmlpreview.github.io/?https:...hangelog7.html

I've created a 7.9.3 branch, which might see the random bug fix and nightly builds. But I plan to concentrate on a version 8. Let's see what that gives :-)

Enjoy the music!

Did you check permissions? Worst case you modify the files as root.

Check your old LMS' cache and prefs folders. It's called favorites.opml.

Can You Fix Contaminated New Music List (by Updates To Older Files)?

$

0
Hello All,

My New Music List has become extremely contaminated due to regular updates to tags (genres/artists/years) and lyrics to older files, meaning I can no longer easily see my most recent additions. Assuming this is using the last modified date in the individual files, is there any way to:

  • Have LMS use the file creation date/time for New Music? or
  • Is there any trick, app, utility or script you can use to update the last modified date in some way to recreate the list in the correct order (from the original creation date)? e.g. something you can list all the files in by creation date order then have it sequentially do a (dummy) update to each file to date the last modified date so the latter is sequentially the same as the original creation dates? or
  • Has anyone dealt with this in another way?

Appreciate any suggestions or guidance...

TIA

The "installer" program is generically named, and makes certain dialogs, such as:

less than obvious. Can the name of this program be updated to reflect that it is an LMS installer? There are other dialogs that show its name too, btw.

update issue with LMS 8

Hi Micheal; all;
I have problems when trying to update to 8.0.0 on piCorePlayer.
Bottomline: When I try to update (from LMS 7.9.2 or also 7.9.3), it always tells me that there is no newer version number then the one I use (i.e. 1579195498) available.

For more details see here:
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...l=1#post961065

-> Could it be that there is something off / wrong with the versioning of 8.0.0.?

(I used the same update path to go from 7.9.2. to 7.9.3 and that worked w/o issues)

Getting this error repeatedly. Not sure if this is why Spicefly Sugarcube has stopped cueing new songs or not.

I don't think this has anything to do with the update. But we're still
facing issues with TIDAL in general, no matter what LMS version.

LMS internet radio issue

My setup includes LMS + piCorePlayer with HiFiBerry + squeezelite on windows.
I am experiencing a strange issue: I am unable to stream internet radio stations to piCorePlayer solely.
but if I run squeezelite on windows and synchronize the 2 players - pi plays perfectly.
squeezelite on windows always works.
I have already tried various versions of LMS, the same result.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks - But I was looking for the release announcement to see the changes. I have installed it already (and it is working - thanks).

Getting the year right with Musicbrainz Picard

$
0
0
I've recently started using Musicbrainz Picard to clean up my audio tags. Any new music I rip is encode in FLAC and there are tags for Date, Original Release Date and Original Release Year. LMS is using Date when it picks up new music so things like reissues appear to be newer than they actually are.

Can somebody point me to the place in the code where LMS reads the tags and sets the year in the database? I'd be happy to submit a patch to use Original Release Date or Original Release Year if they are available.

Possible bug library scan + OpenVPN

$

Hi

I'm just a user so excuse me if it's impossible that this is a bug but this is what happened:

I've been having trouble with my drive mounts disappearing and LMS reporting 0 files in my Music Folder (running LMS on Dietpi on an Odroid XU4 with an NFS, now Samba, mounted music folder from a Synology NAS). See thread on Dietpi forum. Fixed itself after updating to latest LMS version yesterday.

Possible bug I discovered: after changing from a NFS to a Samba mount, I used OpenVPN to connect from a remote wifi network and connected to 192.168.1.1.100:9000/default to check library scan progress, in the Android Chrome browser. The page does not render well on my Galaxy S8 phone and I was never able to check progress (the bottom half of page, where progress is stated, just stays grey, or displays for a millisecond then goes grey, so you can't read it).

After coming home, I discovered that at the exact time I logged into my home network via OpenVPN, the LMS file scan had "stopped unexpectedly". I fail to see how connecting via OpenVPN could interrupt the library scan, but that seems to be what happened. Something to do with IP addresses maybe ? That there is some conflict between whatever IP address the OpenVPN-connecting device (on 10.X.X.X and different subnet) uses and the 192.168.X.X addresses the XU4 and the Synology is on ?

I'd attach the scanning logs etc. but all they say is this:

[20-01-21 06:38:50.5003] Slim::Networking::Repositories::__ANON__ (146) Failed to fetch http://bpaplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/repo.xml: 404 Not Found

Unrelated, I suppose, but curious what that error message means if anyone knows.

Thanks.
