Also this error nearly everyday;

What can I do about it?

Is it normal? It seems everything else is working OK.

LMS 7.8 issue with scanning for new music

I have LMS version: 7.8.0 - 1395409907 running on my ReadyNAS.
This morning I downloaded two new songs from Qobuz:

* Lady (You Bring Me Up) - The Commodores
* Janet - The Commodores

Both songs are from the album called The Very Best Of.

When I ran a scan for new music this album was added to the the database and listed as expected under new music.
However, when I looked at the contents of that new album, LMS listed other songs from other 'The Very Best Of' albums:

Name:  new_music.jpg
Views: 111
Size:  11.0 KB

LMS even thinks this is a compilation album while it isn't.
I guess this is a bug?

When I look under Artists: The Commodores -> The Very Best Of then it lists only the two songs (correct behavior) but it still says it is a compilation album while it's not. That is probably also a bug?

The files are correctly tagged:

Hey, I have a lot of music at a sd-card inside my squeezebox and I'm able to play it, however when I try to connect to it witch Media Server that is on my computers 'nas' it will not connect to it.
It would be nice to do that such as I can with the music that is on my Nas-hd
Note, when answer this it could be that I don't recieve mail of it, that is because the email adres "info@fla-ts.be" does not exist anymore, it should be
"fla-ts@skynet.be". Don't know how I can change that for the forum so please please mail to "fla-ts@skynet.be"

Hi, just upgraded to 7.9.0 all looks OK in the NAS set up (ReadyNAS Duo) showing correct version. However can't access the web page for LMS. Have stopped and restarted the service, still no luck. I get "This page can’t be displayed" is there a different port used (trying on 9000)?

Thanks,
Paul

LMS Music Database Will Not Scan

I am having problems scanning my music database.

I was running LMS version 7.7.3, which I have been running successfully since it was launched. However, after adding a couple of new CDs yesterday I scanned using the option scan new and changed music. But the scan did not appear to run, just giving me the option to Abort Scan and showing no progress.

I then thought I would try upgrading to the new unsupported version 7.8. I thought replacing the software might resolve the issue.

I have now installed LMS version 7.8. I have noticed that my music database is now completely empty - probably due to installing the new software. But if I try and scan the database I am getting the same results as I was getting with LMS 7.7.3

My music database contains about 51,000 tracks.

I am running LMS on Windows Vista and there have been no changes to anything else on my PC.

Any ideas why the scanning process has stopped working.

Issues with LMS, SBT & after upgrades

:confused:

I preface this request for help by saying that I am very low-tech, ink & quill, and if you are kind enough to help me out, please pretend you are explaining this to a 5 year-old, since most 6 year-olds know more about computers than I do.

Problems with mysqueezebox and apps after upgrade to Vortexbox2.3 - My upgrade went well, but I was not able to backup the library. When I powered up the SBT after the upgrade, of course, the apps are gone. The SBT prompted me to update the software to 7.8.0-r16754, and I did (it really didn't give me a choice). That may be the issue, as something similar happened to me a few years ago, but I cannot remember how it was resolved. The only app I regularly use is Pandora. When I go to the app gallery or My Apps on the SBT, I get: "A mysqueezebox.com account is required for this service. Please access LMS Settings -> mysqueezebox.com with a web browser to configure." I accessed LMS via the VB GUI, and signed in. It shows that my Pandora account is okay, and Pandora is checked on the plugins page. If I unplug the SBT and reboot it, I can access the apps including Pandora, but if I go back to "My Music" on the home menu, it prompts me to switch libraries to the VB, and if I do that, I cannot get back to the apps, I get that message again about the mysqueezebox.com account. I also see on the Players page of mysqueezebox (also through my VB GUI) that my SBT is "not connected". The HTTP proxy reads "0", and if I try to enter the IP address of my VB, it disappears when I reload the page. Not sure what to do here. :confused:

Improvements to UPnP / DLNA playlist support

Hi,

I've been using LMS for about a year and recently upgraded to the 7.9.0 series. I'd love to improve the current UPnP/DLNA support and am looking for some advice.

Right now when I send a track to an LMS player, it will clear the current playlist and play only that track. Initially I just want to change that behaviour so a DLNA track is processed as 'play next' (inserted into the current playlist) and then the playlist advanced to play that track. When the DLNA track finishes, the previous playlist would resume.

I've been reading through MediaRenderer/AVTransport.pm and spotted this code in SetAVTransportURI()

Code:

                        if ( $tstate eq 'NO_MEDIA_PRESENT' || $tstate eq 'STOPPED' ) {
                        # Both of these go to STOPPED, so load the track without playing it
                        $client->execute( [ 'playlist', 'clear' ] );
                        $client->execute( [ 'playlist', 'add', $upnp_uri, $meta->{title} ] );
                        $newstate = 'STOPPED';
                }

and then further down in Play():

Code:

        # All other cases, start playing the current transport URI
        # which has already been loaded to index 0 by SetAVTransportURI
        $client->execute([ 'playlist', 'jump', 0 ]);

This has a hardcoded index zero, so my question is (having never written a line of Perl code for LMS) how might I 'play next', get the playlist position and pass that to the Play function?

Cheers,
Gavin.

Unable to Start LMS 7.8.0 from startup

Since I upgraded to LMS 7.8.0, I have been unable to get LMS to begin at startup. I get a message (in red) that tells me "You do not have privileges to install or stop / start LMS ....." It goes on to say I must go to the Start Menu (in Win 8.1) and load LMS as the administrator. When I do so, LMS starts normally. When I go in to try to input my administrator password, the password box is blank and will not accept characters.

What changes do I have to make so that LMS will start at startup? Is this a question of LMS or is it a question of Win 8.1? In any case, what can I do to permit the system to begin at the beginning?

> Yep. Aka "compatibility mode" :)

I'll have to remove all 3rd party pref panes. But the system preferences
never come up with transparency etc. In fact, many windows are not
transparent.

I must admit that I simply installed it on top of an existing
pre-release Mavericks. The installation never asked whether it should
update the installation or install from scratch. Maybe it picked up some
old preference.

Where have all my presets gone?

$

Station presets have disappeared from all of my Booms and Radios when using LMS. (They are still there when using Mysqueezebox.com.) Also, when a particular station is playing I am now unable to re-establish that preset by holding a numbered button in for a few seconds.

When I look at presets in LMS, there is a note to "Visit tunein.com for a free signup". I did that, but there is no indication on the site about where to go from there.

Looking at the Tunein plugin from within LMS Settings, it does show up on the active list, but appears to be grayed out. The box is checked, but it cannot be unchecked. Clicking on the Logitech link to the right brings me to the App Gallery, Tunein Radio screen. Clicking on Configure brings up the Account Settings screen. From there, reviewing the Player Settings shows an inventory of all connected devices and they all show up as enabled.

I'm running LMS 7.8.1.

Any way to display the total duration of the current playlist?

I've tried searching and found an old (2004) post in German that asked this (I think, Chrome translation is, um, imperfect). It seems like a basic music player feature but I don't know of any way to display the sum of the time of the tracks in the current playlist. The data is definitely in library.db for each track, but I don't know enough about how the interface is put together to know how or when the data for the tracks is retrieved. I think it doesn't help that I'm running LMS on Windows so I don't have direct access to any of the Perl scripts? I suppose it also doesn't matter that I could write the PHP code to do so fairly easily.

Foobar2000 will give the information by selecting all the tracks and selecting Properties from the context menu. Winamp displays this information by default:

My Apps usable from iPeng, but not Web UI

Hi all,

My Apps is empty when I look at the web UI, but I can see and use all my apps from iPeng. Any hints? Would be great to use through web UI, mainly because it is much easier to copy and paste SoundCloud URLs than try to use iPeng.

Happy and comfortable diving through logs, just not sure where to start.

Thanks,
Dave

Squeezebox2 and 88.2Kz & 96Khz Sample Rate, Making it work well

$

I am using an old Squeezebox2 as a digital render for flac files. (note I do have 2xSqueezebox-touches + Squeezebox radio as well on the network)

LMS -> Ethernet-Cable -> Squeezebox2 -> SPDIF/TOSLINK -> NAD D3020 -> Loudspeakers

This works very well for 44.1Khz content

I have changed perl5/Slim/Player/Squeezebox2.pm to have the method maxSupportedSamplerate returning 96000 just like Transporter.pm, the DAC Chip Burr Brown PCM1748E supports 5-100 Khz sampling http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/pcm1748.pdf

After this mod, 96 Khz content works fine (except 6Channel 96Khz which locks up the player and makes it require a restart)

The problems I have is with 88.2 Khz direct flacs [Norah Jones] they produces warbles and stutters after a few minutes [same file works fine on Squeezebox Touch]. (have not reproduced the problem with 176.4 Khz transcoded to 88.2 Khz), effect is present both on the SPDIF and the analog out.

HELP!
1) Is this the right approach for modding Squeezebox2.pm, is there any reason not to do this (other than the 88.2Khz bug)?
2) Are there any known problems with 88.2Khz, I see it is a null value in pcm_sample_rates in Squeezebox2.pm ?
3) I have also tried a mod to CapabilitiesHelper.pm where it passes the bitrate to maxSupportedSamplerate so that the method could decide that all multiples of 11025 > 44.1Khz go to 44.1Khz. This does not effect the default definition of the method or any use of it in the codebase as previously maxSupportedSamplerate took no input, is this a fair approach that could be taken upstream?
4) Is there anyway I can get access to what is happening on the Squeezebox2 (is it running out of CPU decoding the flac, sound-card underflows, bandwidth trouble)?

Last Why I want to do this?
I want to limit transcoding so that:
a) I get faster response from the UI when I play
b) I can use the jump to the middle of the track feature
c) I can keep my servers cooler ;)
c) When syncing with my prime system I can still play things at the full resolution (Yes I use a Touch with the enhanced Digital Output)

LMS 7.7.3 on WHS v1 did not auto download LMS 7.8.0

In the past my Windows Homw Server V1 LMS has always downloaded the next official release Add-In automatically. LMS 7.7.3 did not download the 7.8.0 release, I had to download it manually. Have the auto downloads stopped working and I'll have to do this myself from now on? I have been relying on the auto downloads to find out there is a new official release, so I was late upgrading to 7.8.0 as a result of this.

radio stations suddenly not supported

I had a radio station that I used to listen to all the time on my Squeezebox Duet. One day about 4 months ago, in the middle of a somg, it stopped playing! No LMS says it's not supported. Very frustrating!

Cannot get LMS to startup at boot up

$

I have install LMS v7.8.0 and have set the server to automatically start at boot up, but it fails to do so. This wasn't any different using v7.7.X. I am running my Squeezebox classic and LMS on a Mac. Are there any other settings that I need to check to allow LMS to start automatically? There is only one user account on the Mac, so I have made the changes to LMS as an administrator, (given that other threads on this subject seem to focus on this).
Thanks
Chris

LMS stops operating

under Windows Home Server 2011 for quite some time, independently of the LMS version currently being installed.

LMS stops operating and has to be restarted using the squeeze tray program or alternatively by initiating a server restart. Other programs running on the server appear to be not effected. Recently I had to effect a LMS restart about once a day, which is quite annoying. In other times such a LMS start had to be effect less frequent. However, I do not see what would influence the frequency of such undesired LMS shut downs. The most recent change in my system was the switch to LMS 7.9 (which I like very much and is indeed an important improvement according to my opinion), but I can not confirm that this change resulted in more frequent occurrences of undesired LMS shut down.

Has any one else observed such issues and perhaps found a solution?

Getting Internet Radio the same volume with LMS 7.8.0?

$

I've upgraded to LMS 7.8.0 and I am confused about how to get Internet radio the same volume as it was before. I noticed the default was -5 which didn't seem right so I changed it to 0 on the assumption that previous servers made no change to the volume and I don't want any now. But Classic FM seems quieter, in which case I'd need a positive value to get it back to where it was. But if that is the case, the default of -5 makes even less sense. I'm confused, please advise.

(And next time a new feature is introduced which affectes core functionality, please document it properly. A bit more information in the "i" hover bubble would have solved all this.)

LMS 7.8.0 installation on Debian/ARM: Prerequesites? Tweaks?

$

Hi,

I have a Pogoplug v3 device running Debian Squeeze. Yesterday I installed Logitech Media Server 7.8.0 with the debian installer package from the Slimdevices download archive. There are a lot of guides on how to set up LMS on ARM based devices and I took inspiration from a guide that aims towars RasperryPi boards: http://allthingspi.webspace.virginmedia.com/lms.php

So, before installing the LMS package, I installed a few libraries as suggested in that guide:
Code:

sudo apt-get install libjpeg8 libpng12-0 libgif4 libexif12 libswscale2 libavcodec53
Then I installed the .deb-package for LMS, opened the neccessary ports in my firewall and set up LMS. Everything seems to be working. I can stream music to my SB Touch.

What I don't understand, though, is why that guide suggests to apply patches, move some files, etc. Just to be claer, I did not apply any of these changes when I installed LMS. But is Raspian so different from Debian that the normal .deb-package doesn't work properly on these setups? Or am I missing something and LMS just seems to be running fine while it'd be really better to do those changes as well?

Is there an "official" guide on how to install LMS on Debian/ARM based devices?

Cheers,

Timo
