Ok, there's definitely a problem with your MAC addresses. Please try to
fix them in the player's firmware menu: press and hold the LEFT arrow
key to get to the firmware. From there you should find the settings
menu. In there you've got the MAC address. Set it to the value found on
the sticker, and it should be reported correctly in LMS again.

> Player MAC Address: 00:04:20:ff:ff:01

That's most likely an invalid MAC address.

> Player MAC Address: 00:00:ee:ff:ff:ff

This definitely is invalid.

Crossfade settings change unintentional

$

Hi,

I do not use crossfade with my Squeezebox system, one reason being the "noise at end of playlist issue" which was discussed in these forums without a satisfying solution.

So I switch crossfade off for my Radio and Touch, but for some strange reason, it is switched on again every now and then (or sometimes no option set at all for crossfade), which shows by the full-volume white noise issue

Does anybody have an idea what might be causing the setting to change? What can I do to track down? I could not see anything for "fade" in server.log.

Thanks,
Mo

WIMP search gives albums in alphabetical order, Why?

$

Is there any way I could change some setting in WIMP plugin to get albums in release order instead of alphabetical order?

For example:
search: ZZ-Top
-> albums ->
Afterburner
Antenna
Chrome, Smoke & BBQ: The ZZ Top Box
Degüello
El Loco
Eliminator

and so on...

It's very annoying to have it this way especially when the artist and the production is not familiar to me and want to listen to the latest album or the first one...

playlist playing only one song at a time then stopping

Hello

I am using LMS on an Antipodes music server.

Today I was playing with some plug-ins to see what they did.

But now I have somehow changed some setting so that the playlists will only play one song then stop. This is true if I load a whole album or individual tracks. When the track ends, instead of going on to play the next track in the list (as it did before i fiddled) it just stops.

Is there some setting I need to change to fix this? I can't find it. Apologies if this question is very basic.

Cheers

LMS 7.8 scanner stops when scanning new media

Hi,

I'm running LMS 7.8 on a Thecus N4100PRO NAS:
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.8.0 - 1384496306 @ Fri Nov 15 19:18:59 PST 2013

And I'm noticing when I scan it completes the scan this far on the web GUI:

Then it stops. The /raid/data/module/SQUEEZEBOXSERVER/system/etc/logs/scanner.log in debugging level shows this near the end of the log file:

Problem with Additional Browse Modes

Hi all,
I have configured menu using additional browse mode plugin to list only the artists that have albums and to just list those albums they have. So no albums they appear on or songs that are not part of an album. My setup is:

I call it 'Artist Albums' I apply it to 'All music library' browse by 'Artists' and contributor roles are 'AlbumArtist' genres are left blank.

The browsing function works: i see only artists with albums and only the albums on which they are albumartist. However i cannot play any of the albums when i press play button on the album nothing happens. If i clikc on the album i get the track list and if i click 'play' on a track that track does play.

I have restarted the server several times....am i doing something wrong? Or is this a bug? Any assistance will be appreciated.

LMS (7.7.2 & 7.8) service not starting at boot on Raspbmc

Hello,

Looking for a bit of help with getting logitechmediaservice to run when the computer boots up.

I'm using a Raspberry Pi model B running current version of Raspbmc and setup logitech media server 7.7.2 using the guide at All Things Pi http://allthingspi.webspace.virginmedia.com/lms.php.

Setup went well and service started ok using sudo service logitechmediaserver start. However, the service did not start automatically when the Pi was booted. I always had to use sudo service logitechmediaserver start.

Since then I have updated to LMS 7.8 using the deb from http://www.imagineict.co.uk/squeezier-pi

As before, all seems to work well but the service still does not automatically start at boot up.

I've checked init.d and the logitechmediaserver script is there and after many hours Googling I haven't got any further.

Does anybody have any pointers of what I should look at to find out why LMS is not starting at boot?

Thanks very much

Recent performance issues with Squeezebox ecosystem

$

I'm running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.3 - 1375965195 @ Mon Aug 19 11:42:55 PDT 2013 on a Synology DS211 NAS. I have a Squeezebox Radio and Squeezebox Duet.

I have been running this configuration of Logitech Media Server and some Squeezeboxes for several years now, however in the last 3 - 6 months I have been plagued with connectivity/performance issues. The squeezebox radio gets the most use, so some of the examples will be clearly related to that device:
- When I go to bed, I pick the "Rain Outside" Nature Sound to create some noise. (Otherwise freight train traffic noise will wake me up.)
- During the night the "Rain Outside" sounds will often randomly stop.
- In the morning, instead of the alarm clock waking me to my selected "Favorite", I get the dreaded "Jazz" noise.
- When I press a memory key to get an Internet Radio station, instead I get a message that the Squeezebox Radio is trying to connect to the Logitech Media Server library.
- After some time, it will fail to connect to the library and the error messages appears asking me if I want to "try again", etc. The "wireless" symbol in the bottom right corner will have changed to the red colour.
- If I select "Try again" it will fail to connect.
- If I power off and on the radio, it will work properly for a period of time. For example it will play my Internet radio station allow me to browse and play My Music, etc., however after some time, usually 30 minutes to a couple of hours but not predictable or repeatable, it will go quiet again. It may or may not appear to be trying to connect to the library.
- Other manifestations of the problem include when picking "My Music" to browse the library will result in the "swirling circle" thinking symbol, but no list of Artists or Albums, etc comes up. I can hit the back button to get the the menu to try again, and rarely this will work. Sometimes this issue will result in the message that it's trying to connect to the Library.
- Once these issues become apparent on the Squeezeboxes, connecting to the Logitech Media Server with a web browser on port 9002 results in a very slow response. Connecting to the Settings page and picking the "Information" tab is especially painful. (Gigabit network, fast PCs, never previously an issue.)

To assist with diagnosing this problem I have done the following but it was not resolved the issue:
- Plugged my Squeezeboxes into and configured for wired LAN to ensure that wireless signal strength isn't the issue.
- Reset my Squeezeboxes to Factory, and uninstalled/reinstalled the Logitech Media Server on the Synology NAS. I verified that the package folder was indeed removed from the NAS before reinstalling the package.
- Removed unnecessary plugins in an attempt to isolate the issue.
- I read that removing the "UPnP/DLNA Media Interface" plugin might fix this issue, but apparently not.
- Jumbo frames are not enabled on the NAS.

These are the common visible errors in the log follow, however I think I've seen these errors from time to time for years:
[14-12-31 18:16:52.8094] Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::Players::_player s_error (334) Unable to get players from SN: Connect timed out: , retrying in 600 seconds

While my Synology NAS configuration does change from time to time, I cannot correlate anything that would result in this issue. Usually CPU is 5 - 7% and RAM is at 61% utilization. The pearl process is using 62.2MB most of the time.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Recently, from Thanksgiving I'd say and on, I started having issues with SDT providing weather. No big deal I thought, sometimes it comes back on its own.

Then, a couple days later, I can't login to the webgui of the server settings or anything, it just provides a blank page. The control panel in windows said the gui and port 9000 was up and running with no problems. Anyways, I just installed the latest update to 7.8.1 to try and fix it. It worked.

A few days later, all the players can't see the server. I check the webgui, same thing, unresponsive. At this point. I said f it, and cleared my preferences and cache on the server, started fresh. Did everything over(which sucked btw, I should've backed up my settings and scripts for sdt!)

Well, I keep running into the same problems. the server seems to hang after a few days or something. I'll restart the server and will be able to login, but it's very slow and doesn't seem to be working all the way. SDT still isn't working, and it seems like the plugins are having a problem as well.

On the plugins page, after spinning for a bit, it shows this at the top:

Is there a maximum number of items in a playlist?

$
0
0
I'm using iTunes to create playlists for my SBT with the latest full telease of LMS running on a Windows 8.1 PC. I like to create large playlists of 1000-2000 items to play continuously on shuffle. I've found that if there is more than perhaps 7-800 items, when accessing the playlist, I get an error message saying the server's timed out.

Is there a way of increasing the number of tracks in a playlist, or is there a limit I don't know about. I can't find any information on this in any documentation. Incidentally, even for those playlists that don't time out, it only loads 500 tracks, but as it's a different 500 each time the playlist runs, that's no problem at all.

Thanks for any help.

Linux SC 7.3 -> LMS 7.7: advice?

$

Happy New Year, everyone.

After years of hunkering down with SqueezeCenter 7.3.x, it looks like it's time for me to upgrade, as I'm upgrading the underlying Ubuntu release and getting 7.3 running looks like a bit of a hassle. Stability & low maintenance are my main goals.

My general plan is to install the official .deb for 7.7.5 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, patch as little as needed in LMS, and tweak any must-have plugins that don't work properly right away. I would appreciate any advice (including whether y'all think it'd be better to just clone a branch from github; my current 7.3 setup is a svn checkout, after all).

FWIW, my setup is all SB3s and Booms. (I have a Radio using only Logitech's cloud. My other devices [SB2, Controller, Touch, Receiver] are currently mothballed.) I initially decided to stick with SC 7.3 because I abhorred the "right = play" behavior that was introduced in SBS 7.4 and realized that SC 7.3 did everything I needed.

TIA,

Peter

MusicIP mixes and tracks with accented characters

$

I used to run MusicIP and LMS on a Mac but then an OSX upgrade seemed to break MusicIP completely so I haven't bothered using MusicIP for a couple of years now.

I recently bought a barebones PC (Gigabyte Brix running Windows 7) to run LMS and thought I would try to get MusicIP working again.

After a bit of faffing around*, I managed to get LMS and MusicIP working, however have come across one issue.

If I choose a track with an accented character in the artist, album or track name and select "Create MusicIP Mix" for that track, a mix is successfully generated, however the first seed track in the mix (the one with accented characters) doesn't play. It also seems if the mix contains other tracks with accented characters, they don't play either.

This seems to be something to do with encoding of the track location.

LMS has no problem displaying and playing a track with accented characters, for example, this one at location:
V:\iTunes\Music\Trentemøller\The Last Resort\03 Evil dub.m4a

However after selecting "Create MusicIP Mix" for this track, it generates a mix with this track as the seed track with location:
V:\iTunes\Music\Trentemøller\The Last Resort\03 Evil dub.m4a

and of course this doesn't play as the location is incorrect.

The debug logs show the following:
[15-01-04 19:55:07.2044] Slim::Plugin::MusicMagic::Plugin::getMix (975) Creating mix for: song using: V:\iTunes\Music\Trentemøller\The Last Resort\03 Evil dub.m4a as seed.

So with my limited knowledge it does seem that LMS has a problem with the encoding of the tracks provided by MusicIP.

I sent the mix request directly using a browser accessing the MusicIP API and it seemed to return correctly encoded tracks.

Any other information that would be useful to figure out what is going on?

I'm running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.8.1 - 1418369688 on Windows 7.

* I don't know if this is relevant, however I was unable to get MusicIP scanning working on Windows 7. I was able to get scanning to work using Windows XP so I made the file path to my music on a NAS the same for both Windows XP and Windows 7 machines, did the scanning using Windows XP then copied the MusicIP default.m3lib file to the Windows 7 PC. This seemed to work ok.

LMS Control of Touch Menus

1st post from a new account having got the hump with trying to reset the password on my old one

I've been using the Squeezebox infrastructure in one form or another since the SB1

Current setup as per my sig with the addition of LMS 7.8 which I have just this minute finished upgrading to.

I'd held off asking this question to see if the 7.8 release offered any improvements in this area but as it seems not, perhaps someone can give me their thoughts.

Whilst I appreciate the later Jive driven Touch and Radio boxes are less server focused than then earlier stuff and do more locally, personally I far prefer having more centralised control of everything.

One of the things that has bugged me for a while is that with the SB3, Transporter e.t.c menu config for the boxes can be configured and changed centrally on LMS. When you want all of your menus to look the same its far easier to compare and set on the server.

Out of the box I can't see a way of doing this for a touch or radio? Am I missing something or if its not possible are there any plugins that would add this functionality?

thanks in advance

This issue (or similars) have come up a few times recently: LMS would no
longer start up after a disk replacement. Check permissions on
~/Library/Caches and/or ~/Library/Logs. In all the cases I know LMS
didn't have the permission to write to those folders. Check the
server.log. And search the forum for more detailed information.

Sounds like an interesting academic exercise :-). But though I think it
has been done before (some user running LMS in his car...), I wouldn't
want to waste the time. You'll have to have absolute identical file
paths for caches, music files, playlists etc. for the scanning machine
as well as the music server. Then make sure you copy the files to the
right places etc. If you have a NAS capable of running the scanner, why
not run LMS on it, too?

Accidental Tech Podcast - no longer updating

Hi -
I've recently started having trouble listening to the Accidental Tech Podcast on my Squeezeboxen. The RSS feed URL for the podcast is: feed://atp.fm/episodes?format=rss

Everything was working fine on my Squeezebox Radio until episode 86. The latest episode is now number 99, but episode 86 is the last one showing on my Radio. I can play all episodes up to 86.

Strangely, on my LMS, I see a few more episodes - up to number 91 - however even this list is still missing 8 episodes.

I have tried upgrading LMS from 7.7.5 to 7.8 without success. I've also deleted and recreated RSS info without success. All other podcasts are working fine, so presumably an issue with this feed? I'm out of ideas now though...

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

cheers

erratic display of images

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.6 - 1418369353 @ Sat Jan 10 02:04:00 UTC 2015

This afternoon I was using the system and I saw that images were not being displayed. Nothing, not even play buttons (if I clicked where the button should be, the link fired). Also when the page loaded, I could see a "processing request" and spinning wheel that goes on forever. Browser is Chrome on Win 7. I tried clearing browser cache,no help.

I've seen this happen intermittently before, then another time it would "fix itself".

Eventually upgraded to version above and problem went for about half an hour. Now I see that album artwork is not being displayed, same endless "processing" prompt.

Any clues?

odd sorting behaviour

here and there I am seeing artists placed out of place in the sort order:

Name: LMS-sort1.png
Views: 1
Size: 29.0 KBName: LMS-sort2.png
Views: 1
Size: 29.9 KB

is this a bug? something odd in my tagging that might cause this?
