Please check the server.log file (see Paramètres/Information) in the web UI.

Where is podcast file accessed by LMS podcast plugin located?

I think that file is legacy. Does it have a recent timestamp?

The podcasts are stored in prefs/plugin/podcat.pref.

LMS 7.9 Update Frequency

Sure seem to be getting more frequent update notifications for 7.9 recently. This means I have to edit "status_list.html" to get rid of Album and Artist (lines 8 through 24) from the right hand pane of the WebUI on a regular basis. Since the Album and Artist are in the top Now Playing section of the right hand pane of the WebUI I'm wondering why they need to be in the listing of songs below in the right hand of the WebUI when I didn't ask for them? Please make settings -> Interface tab -> Title Format honor without including stuff I didn't ask for in the listing. I have set "TRACKNUM. TITLE - DURATION" as what I want and if I don't comment lines 8 through 24 of "status_list.html" I get Album and Artist along with what I want to see. Thanks!

Running LMS on a Synology DS209

Hi all

It seems I have a reoccurance of the previous issue with the Synology Package running 7.7.3.....where CPU / RAM and disk activity goes through the roof (CPU drops eventually but RAM stays 80% plus and disk activity keeps going) and nothing can connect - the Web Console is very slow etc......previously a uninstall / reinstall of the package did the trick.....all my plugins came back (Erlands Dynamic Playlsit / Michael's Title scroller for the Boom) and away we went very happy..... (see http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...ces-to-Connect)

When I stop the LMS Package - everything returns to normal

So it's tried again - I've managed to get a rebuild of the database done - and that seems to have completed based on the Scanner log......so to the questions....

1. I've tried to gain access to the Synology Beta channel - enabled it but nothing comes up for an upgrade - is it not available for the DS-209?
2. Can I get to a later build "manually" - am able to follow instructions to uninstall / reinstall (what will happen to plugins)
3. I see the following in my log files.....will I be wise to dump the database and start from scratch?

I've attached the last screen of logs - as you can see it doesn't like something in Schema.pm PieLMS_Server.log

What is best way to transfer my LMS server to a different Mac computer?

Need help installing plugins. [Details inside].

Hello,

I am new to this forum and completely new to Logitech Media Server (LMS).

I have recently installed LMS on my HP Proliant N54L microserver which runs Open Media Vault.

I would like to add plugins to LMS that allow me to stream podcasts.

Can someone tell me the steps I need to follow to install plugins or link me to some documentation?

Any help, advice or guidance would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

lockups on LMS 7.9

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1473501469 @ Mon Sep 12 04:37:07 UTC 2016
Hostname: lms2
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux
Perl Version: 5.20.2 - x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
Audio::Scan: 0.95
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)

Running on debian jessie

I get the following errors in my server.log

Sometimes I don't feel them at all. Other times I notice the server locks up, interfaces become unresponsive, track will stop playing a few seconds later. It takes maybe 30 seconds or so, but I think the time varies, then everything returns to normal. Doesn't happen a ton. Maybe once every few days. Annoying...

This has been a problem for me a while, through multiple installs and version of LMS 7.9. Figured I'd finally try to get to the bottom of it.

Anyone else have similar issue?

Command line on Windows to Start/Stop LMS

$

Hi,

The LMS cache is often corrupted, and I need to clean it regularly.

To do that, I must first stop the server.

I'd like to make a script to automatize the process (on Windows 7 x64), but commands like:

Code:

Net stop SqueezeSvr
taskkill /F /IM SQEEZ~3.EXE

just don't work.

The LMS does not seem to be installed as a regular Windows service, it's not listed in the services control panel.

I can kill SQEEZ~3.EXE from the task manager (the DOS mangled name itself shows it's not launched in a standard way), but not from the command line.

Starting it is easy though using 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\SqueezeSvr'.

Any idea how I can stop it from the command line?

Is there any a way to contribute some thank you something to maintainers ? Listening to Spotify on my antique setup I feel so grateful to those that keep improving the server and its plugins. If there's a just giving page of any kind, or a cause you guys care about, let me know.

Local Station won't play via Tunein URL

$

Hi all,

Hoping for some help troubleshooting this. I'll try to be brief.

  • LMS 7.8.0 - 1395395852 via VortexBox 2.3
  • Station is KCUR-FM 89.3
  • URL in LMS is: http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s32192&formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wma,wmvoic e&partnerId=16&serial=(redacted)
  • In the last week or so, when I try to play it on any of my players it counts up a couple seconds and then stops (no audio is heard). Prior to this it has worked just fine for 5+ years.
  • Rebooting everything doesn't help.
  • Other stations (tunein and others) play fine.
  • If I go to tunein from my computer and select that station it plays fine (and the station ID is the same s32192).
  • The URL for streaming I retrieved from kcur.org (http://kcurlive.umkc.edu:8000/kcur893.m3u) works fine when I use Radio->Tune in URL

So while I can get the station to play on LMS using the actual URL, I'd like to figure out why it won't play via tunein. I tried setting some logging settings to Debug but they all seemed to revert after saving and rebooting LMS. Probably human error on my part.

Anyone willing to take a stab at this or see if they can play that tunein station on their LMS?

Thanks!

Versions:
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.5 - 1416570306 @ Thu Nov 27 07:38:09 CUT 2014
Operating system: Windows 8 - NB - cp1252
Platform Architecture: 8664
Perl Version: 5.14.1 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)

Starting yesterday, LMS started failing for me. The web page opens but
nothing plays:
- Clicking on the current songs in the active playlist, nothing happens
- The TIDAL plugin doesn't open
- In the triode spotify plugin, only the top level opens
- The iTunes library is empty

Below are the LMS log messages from the time LMS started failing. If
I'm to guess I would say that it looks like a database corruption.

Is this repairable? Or is the only fix to move away the current database
and do a new media scan and re-add the spotify and tidal configuration?

Or is the latter stored on mysqueezebox.com so that all I have to do
after regenerating the database, is to reconnect to mysqueezebox.com?

All comments and hints and tips are appreciated!

Thanks!

- Steinar

Issue report: Bluetooth pairing with Smartphone for Max2Play
Hi Team! Happy Holidays!

I have been really enjoying my Max2Play+Logitec Media Server image running on my Raspberry Pi 3. Recently I've been trying to get stability when using the new Bluetooth app released just this month. I see the following issues:

- While the Bluetooth link between my iphone 6S and the RP3 appears stable, either Max2Play or LMS is intermittent. The playback randomly stops and eventually restarts. I see a long trail of "Dave's Iphone" shown in the playlist, and at each intermittent stop and restart, a new listing will appear in the playlist.

- This behavior is independent of whether I'm controlling LMS via my windows 10 chrome browser or my iPeng app running on my iphone.

- Also noted - after attempting to run the bluetooth plugin, having it fail, and then going back to listen to either another plugin (i.e., pandora, etc.), or just listening to a networked audio file, the bluetooth app "reasserts" itself... the selected audio file will start playing, stop, and the bluetooth plugin will reappear (and still not work).

While I'm really rocking on the abilities afforded by Max2Play + LMS, I really want the ability to drive the input from my smartphone via bluetooth (in order to play Sirius XM from the iPhone app, stream podcasts, etc.).

Is this a user error, or a real issue?

In any case - Thanks! And any/all help would be gratefully appreciated.

Another (more elegant ;-)) solution would be to add --charset=utf8 to
the set of startup options

Scanner does not avoid shortcut loops

$

0
Much like forum user Richard Boyce asked about in 2009, my media library has gobs of Windows folder shortcuts which are causing my scanning process to enter a loop, chasing the same shortcuts and scanning the same folders over and over. This is in both 7.7.5 and a 7.9.0 build I downloaded today.

Unlike his situation, it is not a matter of folder contents being modified after a successful scan. I can't even get to a point where the whole library has been scanned. I cleaned the cache and chose "Clear library and rescan everything" from the control panel, but it still gets caught in the loop and I have to abort.

I looked and could not find if a bug report was ever filed. I only found one from two years later, 16990, which was closed as a "works for me".

Developer andyg said in that old thread that "There is already some code to deal with loops of shortcuts/symlinks". But it's not working even with the most minimal test case I could think of: create two folders, each containing a symlink to the other, and scan the parent folder.

Should I file a new bug report for this?

Scanner ignores album title "0"

$

If an album is titled "0" (that is, all of the flac files for its tracks have the Album tag set to the character zero, without quotes) then the scanner treats it as if no album tag is present and LMS shows the tracks under the virtual album "No Album".

This is how the files are added to the library.db. When I view the tags of such a track in LMS webUI then the Album tag is shown correctly as 0.

This happens after performing a full scan using the most recent 7.9 (on Win10) but also under an old 7.7.2 in a Linux VM.
Setting logging for all scan.* values to debug doesn't show anything special.

Changing the album tags by appending a character and performing a new&changed scan shows the album correctly (with the modified album name). Other single digit album names are also no problem.

Anybody else ever experienced this?

Lately when I launch Media Server Web Control I get the following empty screen.

Name: SqueeboxServer.JPG

Size: 83.6 KB

If I reboot the computer it may or may not launch, typically it does.

Something's changed. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Odd streaming issue with receivers

By the end of this year I'm facing an odd streaming issue on my receiver (firmware: 77). It is connected via LAN with a fixed IP.
With FLAC encoded files the playback is interrupted by about 8 - 10 secs. The white light of the receivers is fading down. When the music continues it becomes bright again. I've change the receiver with my other one and the issue remained, hence no hardware issue. I've connect a radio to this LAN connection and the issue disappeared. Then I've replaced the LAN cable and the power-line adapter, but no change. Using another LAN connection is resolving the issue.
It worked for years now and I don't have clue why it happens. With WMA and MP3 encoded files and with radios there is no issue.

Attached I've logged the streaming information. Maybe someone has an idea?

Happy New Year to you ALL !!!

LMS Stopping and other weirdness

Happy holidays everyone. I'm always thankful there's a place to go with people who continue to develop and support what is probably the most used "appliance" in my house ;)

Unfortunately, I've been having some issues lately and am hoping I can get some insight or suggestions.

I've been installing the nightly builds pretty religiously for the past year or so and things have been fine up until the past couple of months.
I don't do much with my LMS server machine (Windows 7 x64, Core i7, 8GB RAM), but I do keep whatever software is on there updated (including Windows), etc.
I'll do my best to describe the symptoms and what troubleshooting I've done so far.

For a while now, every time I've gone to use any of my Squeezeboxes (Duet/Controller, Boom, Radio), they cannot connect to my LMS server.
I log into the server to find the LMS icon in the system tray gray, indicating the server has stopped. I start the server and everything is fine until the next time I go to use it (typically the next day).
Being that this seems to occur every day now, I looked towards possible library issues, as I perform a scan every day at 4am.

This morning my 7am alarm in the Radio failed to go off (again). Of course when I looked, the Radio could not connect to the server.

I looked at the server log and saw some strange things:

The scanner log appears normal/clean, but I do not have any extra debug flags enabled other than the default at the moment.

My library points to a single directory on the local server, which has shortcuts to folders on a single mapped network drive (another Windows machine). I've used this config since day one without issue.
I do not have any options for pictures or other files to be included in my library (I'm pretty sure 7.9 doesn't even let you do this anymore anyway?).
What is most odd about this is that the the paths indicated in the messages above are not defined ANYWHERE in my library or elsewhere that I can see.
To clarify, D:\ is a local drive on the server, T:\ is another mapped network drive on the server, neither of which are supposed to be in my library.

Lastly (possibly unrelated), one recent afternoon, every Squeezebox in the house came on full blast to some random track in my library (same track on all players).
I had not touched anything since the day before and all devices were off at the time.

If there are no potential solutions at this time, I'm thinking I should go back to a 7.9 build from earlier this year and stop using the nightly builds.
Any help or recommendations would be most appreciated.

Thank you!
