Why Flash in LMS?

As SuperQ has said already: I can't remember ever having seen this warning.

That said...

> I found some references to a Yahoo Charts control in /html/js.html

You might be up to something: IIRC ExtJS (which we're using in LMS' web
UI) started based on YUI. And there indeed are references to swf in the
framework's source code. Maybe we don't get to see the warning as we are
using a customized package, not the full ExtJS library. But something in
your LMS might reference the full file, causing that question?

What UI are you using? Where exactly would you see that number of 26 tracks?

Sort order in tag "Genre"

$
0
0
I have moved my LMS 9.7.1 from a PC with Ubuntu 14.04 to a PC with Ubuntu 16.04. So far no problems but ...

The sort order in the Genre-tag has changed. Within the Genre tag I use (besides the "normal" genres like Country, Classical, Folk, Pop etc) special genres beginning with a special leading sign ( _ = U+02CD; Dec 717).

Under Ubuntu 14.04 the sort order in the Genre tag was: first the values with the special leading sign, then the normal values
_Buehnenmusik
_Kammermusik
.
.
.
Blues
Country
Classical
.
.
.

Under Ubuntu 16.04 the sort order in the Genre tag is: the values with the special leading sign and the normal values are mixed
Blues
_Buehnenmusik
Country
Classical
_Kammermusik
.
.
.

Since I use the special leading sign to separate "normal" from "special" Genre values in a sorted Genre list I don't want to live with this "mixed" Genre list.

Has anybody an idea why the sorting behavior in the Genre list has changed and how I can return to the pld sort order?

Regards Rainer

Cover art is picked up from files with these names (in this order):
cover, folder, album, thumb. Add any extension of jpe?g, png, gif, bmp.

If none of these is found, any other image file found would be picked.
No given order. Just the first one found.

Most likely the author of one of the plugins you've installed.

Hehe... just wanted to say: if you're running LFS, then you won't rely
on pre-built binaries anyway, would you :-P

Should be fairly simple to extend the script. Please file a pull request
when done :-).

LMS suddenly very unresponsive

#UPDATE 5/7/17 14:15 GMT: On further investigation, I now think this is NOT an LMS issue, but a Spotify issue - I will repost on 3rd Party Software #

I think this is an LMS issue, but I apologise if it turns out not to be, and I'll repost this in the correct forum...

I was using the Spotify app this morning (it normally works flawlessly), and it was failing to connect to my playlists. I went to the Web Interface, and LMS was extremely sluggish, failing to load pages properly. After a lot of fruitless investigation, I decided to upgrade LMS to the newly released 7.9.0. This installed OK; and I cleared and rescanned the library. But the problems persisted.

After restarting the Linux box (Debian Wheezy) that LMS is running on, the web interface is responsive as normal. But as soon as I try to open the Spotify app, the web gui almost freezes up.

After another reboot, the Spotify app opened after a long delay, but when I tried to open my playlists the web gui ceases to respond.

This is the section of the server log after the last restart:

I'm out of my depth here, and I'd be grateful for any advice or suggestions!

Thanks in advance.

Copy settings from old (dead) Squeezebox 3 to new Squeezebox 3

$

So my Squeezebox 3 has died. I'd configured its display to show titles how I liked them when playing, and more importantly spent quite some time defining how the display should look when off (eg: show the time and weather using superdatetime).

If I buy a replace Squeezebox 3, is there a way to copy the definitions from the now dead unit to the new one? Specifically the sleep screen display with all the superdatetime weather forecast definitions etc?

Squeezebox Radio stops playing alarm track after ~10 seconds

$

My LMS system has developed a problem recently where my Squeezebox Radios (i.e. more than one of them are doing this) will wake-up on an alarm to play random songs but will then stop playing after about 10 seconds and either switch to the default alarm track or fall silent. Sometimes they will recover at the start of the next song but then they will fall into the same state again. This problem sometimes goes away of it's own accord and everything works fine, then it comes back some days later.

This morning when this occurred I switched my Squeezebox Radio alarm off with the off button and went to look at LMS: LMS thinks the Squeezebox Radio is still on and it is still actively playing music at it. I switched the logging for player.source, player.streaming and player.streaming.direct to debug at that point (log attached) but I don't believe it shows anything unusual.

Nothing has changed in my Squeezebox Radios, all that's happened in the last month or two is that I have updated to LMS 7.9.0 (1488878280 @ Wed Mar 8 14:37:44 CUT 2017) after starting to experience the problem discussed in this thread, which may or may not be related (note that LMS is not unresponsive in this case). LMS is running on a Win10 machine.

Any suggestions as to what I should do to either (a) debug or (b) fix the problem?

Library Order Inconsistency

$

I'm running LMS 7.9.0 on a Sparky SBC running DietPi. This is connected both wirelessly and wired to a variety of RPi players, and a Chromecast. This all works well, but I have an irritation with the library sort order.

When I list My Music|All Artists, why is it that, for example, Al Stewart appears under 'A', but Agnes Obel appears under 'O' ? Where does the inconsistency come from? I have checked the tags in Clementine, and can see no cause.

It's not a big problem, but I'd like it to be consistent; any pointers?

Thanks

Manually editing M3U - changes not reflected in LMS

$

I have manually edited a playlist created in LMS 7.9.0 (Windows 2008 Server), but I can't get the changes to the playlist to take effect in LMS. When I open the playlist in the LMS web interface I only see the original (un-edited) version. My playlist folder is set to C:\Users\my user\Music\Playlists, which is where the edited playlist file resides. I edited the M3U using Notepad++
I've tried restarting LMS Server, and also a library re-scan, but still I only see the old playlist contents.
Any ideas??

Server stopping when internet streaming only

$

Hi everyone. I wonder if someone could help me with a problem I have had for a week now.

I have a vortex box running LMS v7.7.2 on Fedora release 16.

I have my system for many years and all has been working fine. I can stream music from the vortexbox successfully for hours on end. However if I try and stream something from the internet (Spotify or internet radio) then after a couple of minutes LMS freezes up, the receiver light turns blue and I have to stop and restraint the LMS. I have 2 receivers and two radios synced up.

I have tried rebooting the vortexbox and the router. I can stream Spotify on my network directly from an iPad etc and have no problems accessing the internet for any other requirements.

When I look at the server log I don't find any messages that seem to give me much clue. See the log below where the server froze at 1.46pm following which I restarted it. I was streaming SBSChill radio and had been for a couple of minutes before the server stopped.

Maybe there is a different log I should be looking at? Or should I turn on debug for anything else - at the moment I have it on for 'remote stream metadata information' and 'mysqueezebox'. I am successfully logged into Mysqueezebox.

It may be unrelated but I have noticed the physical memory usage on the server creeping up to 95%.

Any assistance really appreciated..

How to get Right and Left Channels to work separately?? (Output Channel mode)

$

Hi all,

I can't get this working.
I already changed the "Output Channel Mode" to left and right on 2 players + I set synchronisation on both players.
But... it doesn't work! For the moment both channels play Right + Left together...

Potential issue => One player is a Squeezelite player (raspberry), another one is an Airplay device and the third one is a Chromecast...

Any advice for me?

What I want to do (when this test works) is to use 2 raspberry's with their own amplifier connected to 2 speakers (one as a server and the second one as a client) and get stereo.

Thanks!

If you're on Windows or want to seek in tracks, then you should updated.
Otherwise 7.9.0 is ok.

The files are tagged properly and have values for Artist and Album Artist, both Leonard Cohen, and are 'ordinary' MP3-files.
I have been here before but I still can't understand why such a basic issue is so complicated for LMS. It feels like 1998...

I have a Transporter and a Squeezebox Classic and I am using iPeng 9 and LMS 7.9.0. For some reason, certain tracks and even entire albums won't play. These are generally albums that I have ripped either with iTunes or Max on a Macintosh. The tracks play fine in iTunes, just not iPeng or the Squeezebox app, both on an iPad and iPhone. Any reason why this might happen?

Because it most likely is more complicated to install & configure than
pCP. And not as "mainstream" (eg. well supported by this community) as
pCP, either.

In addition to what Paul said: fire up the settings. The first drop-down
