Ok, I'm in Switzerland, too. But we've already been using various SBs
around the house for more than two hours. Listening to radio, Spotty and
local files.

So. Please check your server.log, whether there are any error messages
related to this.

What does "takes LMS down" mean? What exactly is happening? When does it
happen?

And what internet provider are you using? Maybe one of the is having
problems (eg. Swisscom business customers were facing general
communication issues yesterday and/or the day before yesterday).

Media scan dies before it even gets started

I am using LMS 7.9.0 and am having trouble getting my library (one tree of folders) to scan. Even after deleting the cache, I get the same result every time. During the initial directory scan, after a few seconds, it terminates unexpectedly. Here's the scanner log:

Synchronised players - how to power one of them off/on separately

$

I have three players that I like to have playing in sync with each other when they're powered up, but I don't always want them all to be powered up at once. They are a couple of Booms and an SB2. Whenever one Boom is on I'd like the other Boom to be on, but I'd like to be able to turn on the SB2 without the Booms coming on.

The 'Synchronize Power' option seems like it *ought* to be able to do this. I've set up a sync group for the three players, I've set both Booms to 'Power off/on with group' and the SB2 to 'Power off/on separately'. But it doesn't work as I expected.

- When I power up the SB2, all three players come on.
- When I power off the SB2, all three players go off. To me this seems like the 'Power off/on separately' option I set for this player is doing nothing of the sort.
- When I turn either of the Booms on or off, the other Boom follows suit, without the SB2 being affected. That's the only bit of this behaviour that seems right to me.

I guess the correct way to interpret the 'Power off/on separately' option is that it means 'Don't power off/on when the other group players are powered off/on', but what I'd like in this case is an option that mean's 'Power off/on without affecting other players in the group'.

Am I missing a trick here - is there a way to make these players do what I want?

Solution?

I upgraded to logitechmediaserver_7.9.1~1516346293_all.deb on my ReadyNAS, and I no longer can get into my LMS settings. Neither from my PC (which is - like my ReadyNAS wired to the router), nor from my iPad (which is connected wirelessly).

Since I only have one router, I would assume all devices are on the same network.

One thing to note is that when I installed the later version yesterday, I was able to access the settings. When I booted both my ReadyNAS and PC this morning, I no longer could access the settings.

I reverted back to an older build (logitechmediaserver_7.9.1~1515216179_all.deb) and all works perfectly fine again.

Thank you in advance for any guidance on this.

How to make LMS radio stations available via DLNA?

$

Hello guys!

Although being a long-term user of Logitech Squeezebox and LMS, I just registered here as there is one problem I cannot solve on my own. I trust in the experts here in the forum! ;)

I use the LMS plugin "DLNA Media Interface" by Andy Grundman. My LMS correctly shows up on DLNA players (e.g. my mobile phone):
I see three folders (Music, Pictures, Video) and can access all the music files I stored on my LMS.

But: I also want to access web-radio via LMS. Unfortunately, I cannot find a way to do this.
Can it be done with LMS?

PS: I tried the search function, but was not able to find anything on this topic. Feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong. ;-)

Slimnas

I am still using Slimnas v2.0.2 on a HP Microserver running FreeNAS. I am using LMS 7.7.2. I have Duet with 2 receivers, and am about to receive a Touch.

Is there a way to move forward to move on to a more up to date set of software, with te same hardware?

Thank you!

URL to check for the latest nightly build for deb and x86_64 architecture

$

Hi,
I would like to make simple script to compare and download the latest LMS x86_64 deb package.

According to this page it is possible to generate URL for all architecture deb package.
For example:
Code:

http://www.mysqueezebox.com/update/?version=7.9.1&revision=1&geturl=1&os=deb
gives me
Code:

logitechmediaserver_7.9.1~1516565589_all.deb
but how could modify the URL to narrow it to the single architecture for example 'x86_64'?
I would like to receive:
Code:

logitechmediaserver_7.9.1~1516565589_amd64.deb
Thanks in advance,

Deezer playing but no audio

Occasionally when streaming from Deezer the audio stops but the player indicates that it's playing and progressing through the track. This seems to happen when I change albums or tracks.

I thought this may be something to do with specific recordings but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I just experienced this problem on Squeezebox Touch went and turned on my Squeezebox Receiver and got audio through both.

I'm not sure which logs will help debug this. I have the Deezer log on Warn and have changed the "(player.source) - Player Source Audio & Conversion Logging" to Warn also. This is now telling me

Code:

[18-01-23 21:45:45.9397] Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::checkBin (275)    couldn't find binary for: lame
I haven't tried installed lame as I get audio most of the time and therefore wondering why this would solve the problem.

Radio Station Icons unavailabel

$

Hi there,
I have tried and stored various radio stations under favourites. However their icon will not display in the favourites list. This is also the case when adding them to the playlist. On the other hand, the icon displays fine in the 'now playing'-section of the interface.
BTW this is true for the browser interface and for the Squeeze CTRL-app.
I am aware that the reason might also be inconsistent signals from radio stations but I guess that wide range stations like KEXP would be sorting out their streams.
It also seems to me that it had worked alright a couple of months ago...

Update LMS on Synology NAS ?

Because the harddisk is slow, there are optimizations in LMS to use the
disk less ;-). It all depends on your system, of course. How much
memory, what CPU etc.

In 7.9.1 there are even more plugins you can disable if you want.

Synology offers 7.9.1 in the beta channel.

Problems with LMS on Freenas 11.1 U1 (FreeBSD11.1/iocage)

$

I finally get a build of LMS via ports to work (you have to disable the tests in the LMS options), but i still have problems with the server.
Even when the installation process is much easier than before , its just
Code:

LMS
portsnap fetch extract
cd /usr/ports/.../logitechmediaserver/
(tests off)
make install clean
echo 'logitechmediaserver_enable="YES"' >> /etc/rc.conf
service logitechmediaserver start

the server is not completely working as it should: I was only able to connect two of my Squeezeboxes (touch and radio). The second radio was not able to find the server. But via webif i was able to start some spotty play on the radio and i was able to listen. But the display on the radio still tells me i couldn't find any server. Very strange.
Another thing i found out is: the old installation just has three open ports: 3483, 9000, 9090
But with the new "ports"-pkg i get 21,22,111,139,445,2049,6000 additionally to the 3483,9000,9090

Anyone who uses the ports version of LMS, too? Whats wrong with the discovery and why are there so many open ports?

Suggestions for large playlist in LMS

LMS is doing a lot more than just pick a list and keep references to
those files in memory (unfortunately). Every item is represented as an
object with references to metadata (album, artist(s), genres etc.).
Every file is validated at load time whether it's available or not, has
updated metadata etc. Therefore such large playlists can cause problems.

That said you might want to re-consider whether the large playlist is
the only way to solve your requirement. I doubt these are 6000
hand-picked tracks? Maybe the RandomPlay plugin could do the same job?

LMS Server log size

I have recently noticed that my server.log file only goes back a couple of days and it is really small. I am sure this is new behaviour. The contents of my log folder on a Raspberry Pi looks like this

Name: log.JPG
Views: 17
Size: 27.6 KB

Are the *.gz files significant and why do they only start on the 20th January?

Fixed: IRBlaster bug with 64-bit perl

$

I discovered a bug in the IRBlaster plugin that occurs with 64-bit versions of Perl when the remote codes are >32-bit codes.

I was trying to get IRBlaster to work with my SB Touch with LMS running on a RPi3 with Stretch. I could not get the IR transmitter to operate the receiver.

After some digging around I discovered this bug in IRBlaster/Plugin.pm, which occurs in some code that was apparently intended to fix an earlier bug with >32-bit codes for 32-bit versions of Perl. It turns out that if integers are 64-bits, and the total length of the code string (pre-data plus code plus post-data) exceeds 32 bits, the code will be improperly formatted.

I have a fix, attached.

Cannot play M4A as a stream using transporter

$

Hi, on of my favorite Podcasts has changed the format from MP3 to M4A, which gives my transporter using LMS, Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 (on WIN10) an issue. However the stream works fine to be played using Squeezepad for an I-device!?, but not from the HW-Transporter.

I've looked in the log and it states - Any good ideas as to how to get it to work again??

LMS on Android

> Silly question: is there a full LMS version running on android?

I think the idea has come up before. You'd first have to get a fully
working Perl environment on that platform. Then you'd probably have to
compile the binaries shipped with LMS for it, too. Add a
Slim/Utils/OS/Custom.pm to provide some information about it.

I am NOT tempted to do this :-).

Multiples of many albums showing up after the last few nightly updates.

That pretty much says it all. I am on 7.9.1 - 1516947667 and I would say I started seeing this in the past several nightly updates.

I'm running LMS on PicorePlayer/RaspberryPi3. I don't know if I should check in with them or start here. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My library really hasn't changed in a while, so I don't believe I have any issue there.

Thanks,

LMS@Raspbian - wake up external USB HD attached to router

$

I'm testing the LMS on a Raspbianpi Zero running Raspbian GNU/Linux 9. Everything is working fine so far. Because of the limited power support, I've attached my USB 3.0 HD to my Fritz.Box router. When the HD is idle for more than 10 min. it goes to sleep, that's fine, but not for the LMS. A request playing a song doesn't wake up the HD.
Any clue on how to resolve this issues, of course I don't want to keep the HD running permanently.
